This type of article is always a fun read.  PCWorld has outlined what they think are the 25 worst tech products of all time.  This is a very interesting list to say the least, and it's sure to stir up some debate.  They sure as heck didn't pull any punches... Apparently, yields on the new 80u process at TSMC still need major improvement as DigiTimes reports that ATI has reportedly chosen to cancel all plans to use this process this year. Both RV560 and R570 will now be produced on the more mature 90u process this year, though no plans are known for the entry level RV505 and RV535 which were also slated to be made at 80u. Time will tell what sort of impact the lack of the 80u process will have upon the overall design, power consumption, and frequencies these GPU's will have. The semiconductor sector is shaping up for what looks to be an eventful quarter as Intel readies for price cuts and Advanced Micro Devices is set to release a new series of desktop processors. Intel will likely initiate dramatic price cuts to its desktop processors on April 23, according to a Tuesday report from Merrill Lynch. "We believe that Intel will be working to reduce inventory of less competitive products during the second quarter prior to its planned third-quarter product launches," wrote analyst Joe Osha in a Tuesday note.... Digitimes has just posted a story that claims NVIDIA is already in volume production of its 90u G71 which is the successor to the GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB. In terms of the next new flagship architecture, they report that NVIDIA will be launching NV50 sometime this summer leaving us wondering how close NV50 will be to the Playstation 3's RSX graphics core which will be launching in a similar timeframe.Nvidia is currently in volume production of its 90nm GPU series, the G71, G72 and G73, with the G71 to target the high-end market, the G72 the mid-range segment, and the G73 aimed at the entry-level, the sources said. After outsourcing their graphics card production to Foxconn back in May, Leadtek is now setting its sights on expanding their other product lines for 2006. Digitimes reports that Leaktek is looking to gain market share in GPS and Videophone sectors, with major growth expected in their GPS product line as they continue to develop applications for automobiles and PDAs.Meanwhile, the contribution of Leadtek's GPS product line will increase phenomenally next year, buoyed by new orders of car-use GPS modules from unspecified customers in Europe and the US, the company expects. Hey folks, I'm back. Some disturbing news for Red Sox fans tonight, Matt Clement received a head injury with a line drive hit by Carl Crawford. It was powerful enough to knock him off his feet, and he remained almost motionless for about 5 minutes before he was taken away on a stretcher. A standing ovation was given by both Red Sox and Devil Rays fans as he left the field.
