Leaked Google Pixel 3 XL Photos Confirm Display Notch And Much More

Two images originally leaked, showing the device from the front and the back. The front shot showed that the smartphone has dual cameras up front along with a narrow and deep notch at the top center of the 6.2-inch display. This particular prototype is confirmed to have 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage -- we also expect to find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 lurking inside.

On the back, we see that the design aesthetic of the Pixel 3 XL hasn't changed much, carrying on with the two-tone look, single primary camera and a center-mounted fingerprint sensor. One other detail that you might spot is a rather curious logo on the back of the device. According to XDA Developers, this is a logo that Google emblazons on its prototype devices, further confirming its authenticity.

The original leaker, meraz9000, went on to provide additional photos of the Pixel 3 XL showing it from every angle. There's no headphone jack (you'll have to settle for USB-C), and the SIM card tray has been repositioned from the left-side (as on the Pixel 2 XL) to the bottom of the device. 

Other details confirmed by meraz9000 include that the Pixel 3 XL, which goes by the codename "Crosshatch", is that the back panel is made completely of glass and that the smartphone has a front-firing speaker at the very bottom of the device. There's still no word on if wireless charging is supported, but we're hopeful given the glass back.

We have a few thoughts on the Pixel 3 XL after seeing these images. For starters, it might be disappointing to some that Google hasn't decided to change things up a bit with respect to design. Sure, there's notch up front, but the rear of the device still looks largely the same as the original Pixel family from 2016. The second big takeaway is that Google is still resisting the urge to slap a second camera on the back of its flagship. While most other Android flagship (and the Apple iPhone 8/iPhone X) have moved to dual cameras, Google is content with a single primary shooter. Given the image quality and overall excellent pictures that the current Pixel 2 XL is capable of capturing, we doubt that many will miss a second camera on its backside.

With that being said, this is a huge leak considering that the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are still a few months away from release. Now if we could only get some nice hands-on pictures of the smaller Pixel 3...
