If you are dying to know more about the upcoming Nintendo Switch (previously referred to as the Nintendo NX), the wait won't be much longer. Nintendo of America announced on Twitter that it will be revealing pricing, software lineup, and the launch date during a livestream event on January 12th, 2017. An introductory video for the Nintendo Switch was released last week. What do we know about the Nintendo Switch? The Switch is a gaming console that can rest in a dock, be played by multiple people and easily “switch” to a portable device. There are also detachable Joy-Con controllers that can be removed from either side of the Nintendo Switch, or gamers can purchase an optional Nintendo Switch... Read more...
It’s happening! After months of leaks, speculation, and encouraging words from game publishers, the Nintendo NX will make its global debut tomorrow. Thursday morning at 10 AM EST, Nintendo will release a preview trailer that will give us just a glimpse at what gamers will have look forward to when the console hits store shelves in March. We already know that the Nintendo NX will be a hybrid console, as that revelation was confirmed by Pokémon Company head Tsunekazu Ishihara. “The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a handheld device,” said Ishihara. “We will make games for the NX.” It is said that the NX will have detachable motion controllers and... Ubisoft has got Nintendo’s back. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot remarked that he was a huge fan of the upcoming Nintendo NX and is confident that it will put the company back on the console map. “The new Nintendo [console] is a fantastic machine," stated Guillemot. "It's really a new approach, it's really Nintendo, [which is] coming with something new again. We love it."Guillemot is partly supportive of the Nintendo NX because he believes that it will lead to greater creativity at Ubisoft. He argued that gamers are now more open to new hardware and therefore more willing to test innovative products. He insisted, “For us, a machine is a tool of expression, but when everything become stable it's less... Read more...
Rumors about the Nintendo NX have been floating around for over a year. Pokémon Company head Tsunekazu Ishihara just revealed a little more about the mysterious device. He remarked, “The NX is trying to change the concept of what it means to be a home console device or a handheld device. We will make games for the NX.” Based on Ishihara’s comment, the NX is likely to be a hybrid home and handheld console. This hypothesis would match a comment made by an anonymous source to Eurogamer. It would also match a leak that stated that the NX will have detachable controllers with motion controls. Ishihara’s comment also confirms that there will be Pokémon games for the NX. Game Freak, the developer of... Read more...
The leaks surrounding Nintendo's upcoming NX console continue to flow. Last week, a website claimed to have received exclusive information about Nintendo's console, and depending on your perspective, it will either sound great or lackluster, if you weren't big on the Wii or Wii U. First and foremost, the biggest thing that would set the NX apart, if rumors are true, is that it'd be primarily a portable console - not portable like the PS Vita, but portable enough to pick up and walk around a house with. A TV wouldn't be removed from the equation entirely though; you'd be able to dock this portable unit and use it as a console in the traditional sense as well. Nintendo NX Mock Render - Credit:... It seems these days that we’ve learned more about what Nintendo’s upcoming NX console can't do, rather than what it can do. Nintendo of America CEO Reggie Fils-Aime claimed in mid-June that virtual reality just isn’t ready for mainstream adoption, while Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto chimed in with a “think of the children” angle, stating that parents likely wouldn’t be happy about their children wearing VR headgear. Nintendo also made it clear that the NX won’t get into a horsepower battle with Sony and Microsoft, and will instead focus on the gaming content. So we likely won’t see VR on the NX, and you can toss aside any notion that it will be a 6 TFLOP monster like Project Scorpio.... Read more...
Nintendo is going to launch a brand new game console codenamed NX in March of next year, that much we know. Beyond that, it's a big guessing game as to what exactly Nintendo is cooking up and whether it will be worth the wait, though Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot seems encouraged by what he's seen of the new hardware. "What we have seen is really great," Guillemot said during a quarterly earnings call on Tuesday. "We think having a new machine coming is going to help the industry to grow, and to take lots more casual players back to the industry." There's a lot of speculation about the NX, especially since Nintendo keeps promising something unique. Early on, some surmised it was going to be an Android... Read more...
At the risk of not wanting to count chickens before they hatch, it's pretty hard to not be excited for AMD right now. For so many years, the company has struggled to increase its share value due to a lack of truly competitive products. However, this week, we've heard of two examples of how AMD could turn itself around, and the benefits are already materializing. A couple of days ago, we reported that AMD struck a deal to license its processor and SoC technologies so that Tianjin Haiguang Advanced Technology Investment Co., can create its own processors based on AMD's technologies. The deal is reported as being worth $239 million. That might sound like a drop in the bucket for a company as large... Read more...
