You may recall that Chris Avenir, a first-year chemical engineering student at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, faced expulsion after it came to light that he had created a Facebook-based chemistry study group.  The horror, the horror!Chris Avenir's apparent exhortation to fellow Ryerson University engineering students to "input solutions" to assignment problems on the social networking site raised the ire of a professor.On Tuesday, the 18-year-old was told that while he wouldn't be expelled he would receive a zero on the assignment section of the chemistry course, which was worth 10 percent of his final grade.Despite that, Avenir still passed the course.He still passed the course... Midway through the first day at IDF, there was an interview held with Gordon Moore, the retired Chairman, CEO and co-founder of Intel Corporation, in which he spoke of the early years at the company and the many hurdles they faced in the beginning.         Gordon talked about the invention of the integrated circuit and how Intel’s faced fierce competition from Asian semiconductor manufactures that had him questioning the long-term viability of America’s semiconductor industry.  Through changes... LSI Announces $500 Million Stock Repurchase Program LSI Logic Corporation and Agere Systems Inc. today announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement under which the companies will be combined in an all-stock transaction with an equity value of approximately $4.0 billion. Under the terms of the agreement, Agere shareholders will receive 2.16 shares of LSI for each share of Agere they own. Based on the closing stock price of LSI on December 1, 2006, this represents a value to Agere shareholders of $22.81 per share.
