Samsung has accelerated past providing teaser videos of its Galaxy Note 9 and just tossed out a pre-order page onto its website for all to see. It's quite apparent that Samsung is trying to drum up interest in the upcoming flagship, and we're sure that the company has plenty to be proud about. What we can tell from the pre-order page is that it is exactly like those press renders and real-world images that leaked last month.  The preorder page was spied by Evan Blass and saved posted to his Twitter account. According to Blass, the preorder link on the page didn’t work so we still don’t have an idea of exactly how much the device will sell for. Some rumors have suggested... Read more...
We know that Samsung is eying the end of the Galaxy Note line if the Note 9 doesn't do well. That device has been leaked multiple time so far including pricing rumors and benchmarks showing it's a fast device. Pricing will have as much to do with if the Note 9 is successful as performance. Early indications were that the smartphone could cost somewhere between $1,200 and $1,500 depending on the storage you choose. A new pricing rumor is making the rounds and alleging that the 128GB device will go for 13,500,000 IDR in Indonesia, which is around $940. The costlier 512GB version is said to sell for 17,500,000 IDR or about $1,200. Odds are the straight conversion price won’t be the same in... Read more...
Gamers around the world have been enjoying Fortnite's Battle Royale for the past year, and have in turn filled developer Epic Games' coffers with over a billion dollars in revenue. Fortnite is available to play on PC, macOS, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and iOS. Up until this point, the world's most dominate mobile operating system -- Android -- has been left out of the fun. That will change this summer when Fortnite finally lands for Android. However, we're learning that the initial release of Fortnite for Android might be exclusively tied to a single device. 9to5Google is reporting that Samsung has managed to score a deal with Epic Games to give early Galaxy... Samsung is set to unveil to the world its latest device on August 9th in New York: the Galaxy Note 9. We already know a lot about the device thanks to multiple leaks. We already know what the Galaxy Note 9 will look like and that Samsung is alleged targeting a very high price for the smartphone. Today, Samsung is teasing the device in the form of three videos that show different aspects of the daily use of a smartphone that the Note 9 will presumably improve on. The videos focus on storage space, battery life, and how fast the smartphone operates. The catchphrase in each of the videos is “A lot can change in a day.” Samsung’s first video shows people dealing with poor battery... Read more...
Smartphone fans can thank the iPhone X for ushering in an era of insanely high-priced flagship smartphones. While Apple has certainly sold a lot of iPhone X models, Cupertino wasn't exactly happy with the sales numbers and has been looking for ways to slash costs and increase sales. Other smartphone makers seem to have missed that pricing issue and the fact that most smartphone buyers have opted to keep their devices or buy cheaper models as evidenced by smartphone market stagnation. Rumors have even recently claimed that the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note families could be merged in the future. A new rumor has now surfaced that claims Samsung is targeting a very high price for the Note 9, which... Read more...
It looks as though Apple may be beaten to the punch when it comes to a first-party wireless charging peripheral that can juice up more than one gadget at a time. Samsung's Wireless Charger Duo has just leaked ahead of the launch of the Galaxy Note 9 flagship smartphone. Both the charger and the Galaxy Note 9 will be unveiled at a Galaxy Unpacked event in New York on August 9th. According to the retail box that leaked early to the internet, the Wireless Charger Duo is capable of charging two Qi-compatible smartphones at once or it can charge a smartphone and a Galaxy Watch simultaneously. This also confirms that the Galaxy Watch -- which we've been hearing about quite a bit... Read more...
Samsung is just weeks away from launching its Galaxy Note 9 smartphone, which will serve as the company's ultimate flagship for 2018. However, could this be the end of the line for the long-running Galaxy Note series? It's possible according to a new report coming out of South Korea. As we all know, the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note families have been increasingly meeting parity with regards to features. And when looking at the Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 (and the Galaxy S9+ compared to the incoming Galaxy Note 9), there is very little to distinguish the two other than the inclusion of the S Pen on the latter.  In an effort to reduce R&D costs, the two lines could be merged in... The launch of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 9 flagship is just two weeks away, which means that we can expect for leaks to start ramping up as a result. Thankfully, we have two fresh leaks to report on, and they both give us a clearer look at the device in question. The first comes from notorious gadget leaker Evan Blass, who appears to have gotten his hands on a press render of the Galaxy Note 9. The image shows the smartphone from both the back and the front, confirming the dual-camera setup on the back and the repositioned fingerprint sensor (which is now mounted centrally beneath the cameras instead of awkwardly beside them). We can't see much from the front other than to note... Read more...
Samsung Galaxy Note fans have a lot to look forward to with the Note 9 that's incoming next month. We saw some leaked benchmarks turn up in late May and in those benchmarks the device was running an Exynos 9810 SoC but that's presumably for the non-US version of the device. More benchmarks have leaked and this time, the leak claims that the Note 9 in this run was powered by an even faster Exynos 9820 SoC. The new leak shows a device carrying the Samsung SM-N960X designation. It scores a whopping 4,089 in the single core test and 12,246 for a multi-core score. These scores absolutely crush the scores we saw on the benchmark leak back in May when the Exynos 9810 version racked up 2,737 on... Read more...
The supposed leaks related to Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 9 handset are piling up. Whether they are actual leaks or part of a controlled campaign by Samsung to drum up excitement and generate buzz is up for debate. Either way, several of them point to the Galaxy Note 9 having an S Pen with Bluetooth support, including a 'leaked' poster. Assuming the poster is legitimate, this is the first official shot of the Galaxy Note 9 from top to bottom, though only from the backside, and at angle. The Bluetooth-enabled S Pen rests on top and is shown in its entirety. As depicted, the S Pen in this latest leak is consistent with the closeup shot that Samsung includes on its invitation to its Unpacked... Read more...
We hope that you like the look of the Galaxy Note 8, because it seems as though it will be more of the same when the Galaxy Note 9 launches early next month. Like the transition from the Galaxy S8 to the Galaxy S9, there are very little design changes to speak of with the Galaxy Note 9 according to a new image leak. You'd have to pull out a magnifying glass to spot any real changes, and it appears that the hardware in the top bezel (cameras, sensors, etc.) is identical. About the only noticeable change that we can tell is a slightly smaller bottom chin/bezel. As we saw in earlier renders of the rear of the device, the fingerprint reader has been repositioned to under the dual... Read more...
Usually when Samsung releases a new flagship phone, most of the attention is focused on the raw performance upgrades and camera improvements. When the Galaxy Note 9 arrives, however, expect a fair amount of hype on the S Pen. Samsung teased as much when it sent out a closeup shot of the upcoming S Pen in a recent press invite, and now it's rumored the S Pen will introduce a brand new functionality. Prominent tipster Ice Universe indicated on Twitter that the Galaxy Note 9's S Pen will feature Bluetooth support, thus enabling it to do things unrelated to the pen, such as using it to control music. Assuming that is the case, Galaxy Note 9 owners will be able to pause and skip tracks with their... Read more...
We have an official launch date for Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 9 flagship: August 9th. It's on that date that the smartphone will be revealed to all at a Galaxy UNPACKED event in Brooklyn, New York. Today, however, fresh details about the device are starting to float to the surface. We already know that the Galaxy Note 9 will feature Samsung's own Exynos 9810 processor for global markets, while Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 will in use for U.S. and Chinese markets. It's now understood that base phones will come with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Given the price that the Galaxy Note 9 will likely command, the increase in base storage is greatly appreciated. However, we're... Read more...
The date is set in stone for Samsung's next flagship smartphone launch. The South Korean electronics giant announced today that the Galaxy Note 9 will debut on August 9th at an UNPACKED event held in Brooklyn, New York. The early August unveil was first mentioned in a report earlier this month. For comparison, the Galaxy Note 8 was first shown to the public on August 23rd 2017, while the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 made its presence known on August 2nd 2016. The invitation that we received seems to show the Galaxy Note 9's new S Pen, and nothing else. Gadget leaker Ice Universe stated earlier this week that the new S Pen will have features that are "worth... Read more...
Samsung is set to unveil the next entry in its long-running Galaxy Note family in early August. We have a good general idea of what kind of hardware will be included on the flagship smartphone, but a fresh leak claims that at least one spec will far surpass its predecessor. Gadget leaker Ice Universe reports that the Galaxy Note 9 will come packing a massive 4,000 mAh battery inside its spacious chassis. For comparison, the current-generation Galaxy Note 8 "only” has a 3,300 mAh battery. This should result in a pretty significant uptick in battery life given the power efficiency of the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with its more refined 10nm manufacturing process compared... We now have a pretty good idea of what the final design of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Note 9 will look like when it is officially unveiled. Steve Hemmerstoffer, a notorious leaker that some people know better as @OnLeaks, his Twitter handle, posted an official looking render of the upcoming phablet that is based upon Samsung's factory CAD files for the device. Assuming the CAD file are legitimate, the renders depict what it will actually look like. Steve has a very favorable history when it comes to leaked information—he and Evan Blass (@evleaks) seem to be plugged into the pre-release scene and often post press renders and other things on Twitter before they become official. In this case,... Read more...
If you are a fan of Samsung's Galaxy Note series, you are in for a treat this summer. The next model in the Galaxy Note line, the Galaxy Note 9, is reportedly set to debut in early August at Samsung's Unpacked event in New York, and will include several upgrades over its predecessor. It will of course wield a faster processor, but also a better Bixby experience and improved camera performance. To start with, it's rumored the Galaxy Note 9 will have an even bigger display, this time checking in at 6.38 inches versus a slightly smaller 6.32-inch display on the Galaxy Note 8. There's also been talk of the Galaxy Note 9 being Samsung's first smartphone with a fingerprint reader built into the screen.... Read more...
The Galaxy Note 9 hasn't launched yet, but we already know quite a bit about the smartphone thanks to several leaks. The first leak saw the Snapdragon 845 flavor show up on Geekbench with a score of 2190 for single-core and 8806 for multi-core performance. The second leak was again on Geekbench and showed that Samsung had likely done some optimizing when the same Snapdragon 845 SoC leaked with a 2411 single-core and 8712 multi-core score. Another leak has happened with Geekbench again seeing details of the Galaxy Note 9 published, but this time out the scores are for the Exynos 9810 version of the smartphone destined for some markets outside the U.S. The Geekbench results show a single-core score... Samsung's mainline Galaxy S series of smartphones is without question one of the strongest selling smartphone brands on the planet, but the company's Galaxy Note line is also extremely popular. The Galaxy Note is truly a mobile productivity powerhouse and includes a handy stylus for whenever you need to take notes. It has in fact cultivated a dedicated following in its own right.  Interestingly enough, the Galaxy Note 9 has succumbed to not one, but two Geekbench leaks, with the second giving us a hint that Samsung will be able to eke a little bit more out of the single-threaded performance. Earlier this week, we also learned that Bixby 2.0 would make an introduction on the device. Though... Read more...
Digital assistants have become a standard feature of practically every smartphone around these days, and are such a big deal that Samsung created its own version in Bixby. Looking ahead, Samsung is planning to roll out an upgraded version of its artificial intelligence platform, Bixby 2.0, and it will reportedly arrive alongside the Galaxy Note 9 sometime in the second half of this year (presumably in the fall). Samsung talked about Bixby 2.0 during a recent press conference that was focused on its vision for AI. The plan for Bixby 2.0 is to inject more natural language processes, along with improved resistance capability and quicker response time. As to how all that plays out remains to be seen,... At the end of March, we got our first glimpse at how the Galaxy Note 9 smartphone would perform when it turned up on Geekbench rocking a Snapdragon 845 SoC and 6GB of RAM. Those first benchmarks showed single core performance of 2190 and a multicore score of 8806. The Note 9 has turned up again on Geekbench with a new round of scores for us to look at. You can see the Geekbench screenshot below. The new scores give a much-improved single-core Score of 2411. The multi-core score is down a bit from that initial run with 8712. The system information calls out the identical Samsung SM-N960U model number. The other system information is identical to the March listing. As for when the Note 9 will get... Read more...
Samsung already refreshed its flagship smartphone family with the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, so what's next for the South Korean handset maker is to focus on its phablet, the Galaxy Note. Don't worry, that is getting a refresh for 2018 as well, presumably very soon. We are starting to see leaked information appear in regards to the Galaxy Note 9, including some preliminary benchmark figures. Those benchmarks appear on Geekbench, a popular destination for such things. The database entry points to a "Samsung SM-N960U," which is almost definitely the Galaxy Note 9—the previous model (Galaxy Note 8) was listed as SM-N950. According to the database entry, Samsung is going with a top-shelf hardware... Read more...
