Intel today officially announced the first round of 9th generation Core processors, and given all the leaks that have occurred over the past few months, there weren’t too many surprises. Like all of Intel’s processors released over the past few years, the 9th generation Core parts are based on a refined 14nm manufacturing process (14nm++), and are dubbed Coffee Lake Refresh. There are three processors that were announced today: Core i9-9900K: 8 cores / 16 threads, 3.6GHz to 5GHz, 16MB L3 cache, 95W TDP Core i7-9700K: 8 cores / 8 threads, 3.6GHz to 4.9GHz, 12MB L3 cache, 95W TDP Core i5-9600K: 6 cores / 6 threads, 3.7GHz to 4.6GHz, 9MB L3 cache, 95W TDP All of the processors... There may not be many surprises when Intel finally gets around to rolling out its 9th generation Core processor lineup. Numerous leaks and rumors have provided us with plenty of details to analyze, and while we always have to take those sort of things with a grain of salt, the pre-release information floating around the web has been fairly consistent. The latest leak provides some more benchmarking results for the Core i7-9700K and reinforces the rumor that Hyper Threading may not be a part of this particular SKU. In case you haven't been following the rumor trail, the Core i7-9700K is one of a handful of 9th generation Core processors that Intel is readying. These new chips are built on a 14... Read more...
It looks like users are having some fun with apparent engineering samples of Intel's upcoming 9th generation Core i7-9700K processor. We've spotted a handful of leaks already, the latest of which purportedly shows the 8-core chip being overclocked to 5.5GHz in current generation Z370 Express chipset motherboard. Before we get to the overclock, let's cover what we know (or think we know) about the forthcoming CPU. The Core i7-9700K is one of a handful of processors billed as 9th generation parts built on a 14 nanometer++ manufacturing process, also known as Coffee Lake Refresh. It has 8 cores and 8 threads (no Hyper Threading support, in other words) clocked at 3.6GHz, and can boost up to 4.6GHz... Read more...
Earlier this week, we reported that there will initially be three processors launched in the upcoming 9th generation Intel Core family, which is being called the Coffee Lake Refresh. Interestingly enough, the latest rumors have suggested that only the top-end SKU – the Core i9-9900K– will have HyperThreading enabled, giving it 8 physical cores capable of executing 16 threads. We’re now getting confirmation of this news with the appearance of the middle child Core i7-9700K, which you can see in the SiSoft SANDRA graphic below. The screen grab confirms that the processor has HyperThreading disabled, which means that it has 8 physical cores along with 8 threads.... Read more...
