Good evening ladies and gents, need some night reading material? After a long day of fighting the Windows ME Operating System, my head is just about fried. I'm sure the blue screen of death will haunt my dreams tonight. For those of who you have never had the pleasure of working with the mentioned OS, you may be scratching your head right now, but there are many battle hardened readers out there who know what I mean :) Anyway, here's the news, good night folks. LogitechR X-530 5.1 Surround Sound PC Speakers Review @ Futurelooks "There are a lot of speakers on the market these days, but all the excitement is with the high end. What do we do about everyone else? Logitech answers that call... Read more...
Hey folks, my internet is back and so is the news :) Today we have a few articles that shy away from the actual hardware review, such as the "Basics of RAID", and "Are you addicted to the internet". Am I? Are you? Maybe, maybe not, but I'll bet many of the people who answer "no", probably are. Enjoy! Jetart JACSH1 Universal VGA Cooler Review @ 3DXtreme "Today 3DXtreme is reviewing the Jetart JACSH1 Universal VGA Cooler. With video processing units becoming more complex than CPU's, users are wanting better solutions to cool their video cards. The old days of passive heatsinks are long gone, and active cooling solutions need to be better and better designed to... Read more...

Happy Friday everyone, the weekend is about to get started.  This morning we have a good lineup of reading for you from great looking Albatron mobo to a thoughtful editorial on Blue-Ray technology.  You better get started, there's some good reading here. Albatron PX925X Pro @ Viper Lair: "Throughout all the testing the Albatron PX925X Pro didn't falter once, and let's face it, if your motherboard isn't stable, then nothing you do will make the whole system stable. Standard performance was up there with all the other 925 based boards we have seen, and even put in a few impressive memory and content creation scores higher than expected (nothing you would see except in a benchmark... Good morning everyone, welcome back.  With some fairly warm (for winter) weather hitting the northern portion of the HH Labs, my hopes of breaking out the Mountain Bike early this year are looking better everyday.  However, until the frost gets out of the ground, I think I will hold off from bouncing around the trails too much.  The ground is hard enough without it being frozen ;) Here is your AM shot of juice.  Get at it...  Corsair Flash Voyager USB 2.0 @ Viper Lair "We were very pleased with the Flash Voyager's speed and more importantly, the durabilty. It survived a free fall onto tiles, a swim in a sink, and a full laundry cycle without missing a beat. The 10... Read more...
Hey folks, it's that time again. Using my computer earlier today, I noticed it acting a little funny. The first thing I suspected was a virus, and as I usually do when this happens, I went to find the Avast! Anti-Virus setup file. I decided to check for a new version on their web site, and while checking out the site, I noticed the home edition is now a free offering. Drago, a forum member, had informed me awhile ago, but I'd forgotten until now. If your looking for a good, free, virus scanner, I suggest you give it a try. Anyway, here's the news, and a Press Announcement from Corsair. Corsair Introduces COOL Water Cooling Kit Fremont, California, January 27, 2005: Corsair Memory, Inc., a global... Read more...
Happy Friday all.  JeffB checking in with your morning news post.  CTX is sporting a cheap 17" LCD worth checking out if you're in the market.  Speaking of cheap, we have links to a budget Volari video card to cover basic video needs.  We also found the Delphi portable XM receiver a cool little device.  Check it!  Supermicro "Super Quiet" Technology Reviewed @ 2CPU.com: "Demand-Based Switching (DBS) is another power management feature that Intel has come up with. Its goals are to reduce core frequency and voltage until the horsepower is actually required. The processor frequency will be reduced to a minimum of 2.8GHz until the demands of an application... Good morning everyone, welcome back :)  With quite the mammoth amount of snow falling over the past few days, things have been "interesting" up here in the Great White North.  Not that I am really complaining though, this fresh snow has enabled me to patch a few holes in the roof of my igloo which where letting in a nasty draft ;) Nonetheless, it is getting late and the news-bin is filling up.  Here is your AM shot...  Logisys Pitbull 500W Power Supply @ ExtremeMHz "Power supplies are probably one of the most overlooked and under appreciated components in a computer system. In the last few years however, the pre-modded power supply has appeared and has become... Read more...

One of these kits is geared for low-latency 2-2-2-5 operation, and the other is tweaked to hit high front side bus speeds. Click here and check them out...... Read more...
Even though DDR2 memory may be the current talk of the town, thanks to Intel's platform upgrade, there are plenty of P4, Athlon, and Athlon 64 owners that still use standard DDR based systems.  Reason being, it's almost always cheaper to stay slightly behind the curve when purchasing hardware.  It's probably never been more true these days than ever before.  Although technology can't stand still, current software and user habits simply don't require every user to go out and buy the latest and greatest every few months.  Case in point might be the current crop of i915/i925x motherboards.  Upgrading to one of these motherboards in many cases requires a complete overhaul... CORSAIR TWIN2X1024-4300C3 DDR-2 MEMORY REVIEW @ PCStats "In it, PCSTATS is testing out two brand new 512MB sticks of Corsair Twin2X1024-4300C3 DDR2 memory. Hello and good evening folks :) Looks like we got a decent storm today, everything has a coating of ice on it. Will it last? Probably not, I hear it's supposed to warm up early next week. I love these freak winters... and I also love tech news, and so don't you, so let's get to it. Coolermaster CoolDrive 5 Hard Drive Cooler @ ExtremeMHz "The CoolDrive 5. Sporting two color changing analog dials and a 40mm cooling fan, this 5.25" bay device is certainly cool in both senses of the word. I'll put it through its paces and make sure it's worth your dollars...so on with the review!" Corsair XMS Xpert Arrives @ Legit Reviews "You better believe it! Well it's almost Christmas, and by this time tomorrow I should be eating the food of the holidays :) Turkey, ham, potatoes, squash, and much more... I can't wait! Last I heard, we might get some snow tomorrow, so be safe and have yourself a Merry Christmas! Samsung SCX 4100 Multifunction Printer @ GideonTech.com "I've always been wary of multifunction printers as they provide a lot of options but none are all that great on it's own. Whether it be scanning or printing an image, it used to be better to just buy separate devices and hooking them up. With SCX4100 from Samsung, things may just have changed." Corsair Flash Voyager 512MB USB Flash @ PCStats "In this review, PCStats is... Read more...
Well folks, my package finally arrived and I couldn't be happier with my results. So far I'm running it at a stable 2.34GHz, which is close to the speed of a 3800 . Not bad for a $155 "budget" CPU. I hope all your winter overclocking sessions go as smoothly :) ATake Phantom Robot ChipsMod IV Chipset Cooler @ BigBruin "There are certainly other coolers, but none of them can be compared to the ChipsMod IV's unique looks. As for the performance, that's marginal without the fan, giving only a 2 degree C advantage over the stock MSI heat sink. Add the fan on there, and that improves to almost a 6 degree C difference!" Corsair TwinX1024-4400C25PT Memory Review @ PCStats "These... Read more...
Good morning all.  It looks like we have a few more last pushes of reviews before the holidays kick in.  Did you get all of your shopping done?  All I can say is thank God for Amazon.  My total time spent in the mall shopping this year was less than 2 hrs and even that wasn't too terrible.  Now I just need to prepare for all the extra eating that comes along with package.  This morning we have a few tid-bits for you, so let's jump into it...  Matrix Orbital MX222 LCD Kit @ Bjorn3D: "Case mods have gone from being a simple fad to an all out competition between friends, foes, and everyone in between. Everywhere you go there is someone with a PC filled with... Read more...
Good afternoon to all of you, it's certainly a great afternoon for me. According to FedEx, my Athlon 64 package is supposed to arrive today. With all of my excitement, I realize I'm still a little kid a Christmas time. The cold weather, the snow, and of course the new toys... it still brings back that same feeling. Though now that I'm older, I'm able to appreciate the family gatherings a little bit more, but the gathering of new hardware is almost as good :) Mushkin PC2-5300 vs. Corsair PC2-5400 review @ MetkuMods "With the latest chipsets there have been many new terms and technologies introduced to the public. In system memory this meant the introduction of DDR2 memory modules. With lower... Read more...
I have come to a realization today... I collect way too much computer related junk. All I was looking for was a CD-Rom drive, so I go into my closet to see what I have. I pull out a few boxes, and find 6 CD-Rom drives, 5 USB cables, 4 sound cards, 3 hard drives, 2 PSUs , and a partridge in a pair tree ;) There was of course much more, but there's also news to post... Sony VAIO VGN-A260 Laptop Review @ Designtechnica "We have to give Sony credit for designing a system that not only features a 15.4-inch widescreen display with Xbrite technology, but does it all in a chassis that is slimmer than the competition. We are on the fence about whether they should have gone with a desktop processor... Read more...

Earlier today I was shopping on E-Bay for a budget card for my friend... 9500 Pros going for around $70! I don't know, I was going to get my next card(6800 GT) from retail, probably Newegg, but E-Bay is just to good to pass up. Yeah, yeah... scammers all around and Pay-Pal can be a big hassle, but I've had some good experience from E-Bay so I'll take my chances again. Well, I'm going to play some HL2:DM after this, and then hit the sack, so let's get on with the news...
