The Aston Martin Vantage family has been with us since 2006, so it is well past time for a thorough redesign of the V8- and V12-engined entry-level sports car from one of Britain's most storied auto manufacturers. Thankfully, Aston Martin has answered magnificently with an all-new Vantage, and well, just look at it! The new Vantage is instantly recognizable as an Aston Martin, but it takes up the current design trend of fitting new cars with huge gaping maws. This design theme isn’t for everyone, but we think that the huge grille is somewhat flattering on this car's face. The sides of the car are heavily sculpted, although we're not sure to what to make of the arrowhead-shaded contrasting... Read more...
There are few (if any) franchises in movie history that have been around as long, or are as highly revered as the aura that surrounds James Bond; and apparently both Amazon and Apple won’t a piece of the Walther PPK action. Agent 007 first took the silver screen in 1962’s Dr. No and has returned every few years since, with the latest installment being 2015’s Spectre. Back in 2015, Sony’s agreement to distribute Bond films expired, and MGM has been on the lookout for a new partner. Sony has thrown its hat back in the ring for another go at distributing the films, while Universal and Fox have also reportedly shown interest. The overwhelming favorite, however, is Warner Bros., which has the financial... Read more...
BMW is hard at work trying to end parking lot mishaps. The answer, of course, lies in sensors that will be able to detect when you're about to make a terrible mistake; like trying to squeeze in between another car and a concrete beam or backing up just a little to far as you ram into a wall. Incidents like that will ruin your day. They're also on the verge of being avoidable with BMW's ActiveAssist parking technology. It's part of a 360-degree collision avoidance system in which four advanced laser scanners record the environment and identify impediments like columns, such as the ones that exist in multi-story parking lots. "If the vehicle approaches a wall or a column too quickly, the system... Read more...
It looks like the constant pain Sony's feeling isn't going to be seeing relief anytime soon. In late November, we learned of an unparalleled breach that affected the company, which unfortunately not only leaked lots of corporate info, but also sensitive information for thousands of its employees. Since word of the breach came down, we've learned more and more about how it played out, including the fact that undetectable malware was the root cause. We also know that a group that calls itself Guardians of Peace is claiming responsibility. The follow-up to the hugely successful Skyfall (the film raked in $1.1 billion worldwide) has received an official name: Spectre. Spectre will focus on the SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion, the global terror organization that James Bond has battled in previous films including Thunderball, You Only Live Twice, and On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Daniel Craig is of course reprising his role as James Bond (007) and we shall see the return of other characters introduced in Skyfall including Ralph Fiennes (M), Naomie Harris (Miss Moneypenny), and Ben Wishaw (Q). However, the Skyfall veterans will be joined by stellar Bond newcomers including two-time Oscar... Read more...
