Gigabyte Z390 Designare Review: A Motherboard For Creative Pros

Gigabyte Z390 Designare Low-Res Game Tests

For our next set of tests, we moved on to some in-game benchmarking with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Middle Earth: Shadow of War. When testing processors with these games, we drop the resolution to 1024x768, and reduce all of the in-game graphical options to their minimum values to isolate CPU and memory performance as much as possible.

At stock the Designare is about on par with any motherboard based on the same chipset. When switching to overclocked, we see the results shift just a little in favor of the Asus Extreme board. Is this a make or break for the Designare? I would say no, this comes down to tuning, kind of like how SunSpider showed Designare pulling better latency. There is always going to be some specific area where a board is better tuned. Having the Extreme at over 2x the price being able to pull a couple percent higher CPU FPS in gaming is not going to be the downfall for the Designare by any means.
