XGI Technology Updates (Merger, etc...)
Rumors concerning an XGI & ATI merger have been in the works some time now, but the deal has yet to happen. In Phoronix's latest article, they discuss how the deal isn't dead yet, the state of XGI's unified Linux display drivers, and more.
"If you will recall, last year there were also speculations of a possible ATI + XGI merger, but those moves were downplayed by the industry and that it would be unlikely if it ever went through. However, it seems as if this possible acquisition is the real McCoy and is likely to proceed. In this article we also examine the state of their unified Linux display drivers as well as their open-source policy and possible benefit to ATI in the server arena."
