Sony Will Let You Try A PlayStation VR And Skyrim Bundle In-Home For Free
All gamers struggle with the same doubts and concerns before they get a new gaming system or accessory that costs big bucks. We all worry that it won't be as good as we hoped it would be, or we just plain won’t like it. Sony is helping alleviate some of those fears for PlayStation 4 gamers thinking about a PlayStation VR (PSVR). It's willing to let you try the PSVR in your own home and see if you like it.
What's the catch? The loaner deal is for "select" PlayStation Plus subscribers. That means that only a few people can try it out and you must have received a special code in your email to try it. If you do get that special email and sign up a bundle will turn up at your home that gives you the PSVR headset, PS Camera, two PS Move controllers, Skyrim VR, and the PSVR Demo Disc 2.0.
The other caveat is that you only have 14 days to try it out. If you don’t like it, you must return it within ten days of the trial period ending or you get charged the $299.99 price. You will also plunk out that same $299.99 if you love it and want to keep it.
Sony wrote, "We will check to ensure that your credit card is valid when you provide your credit card information to the Administrator but your credit card will not be charged unless you decide to keep the PlayStation VR Trial Bundle or return the PlayStation VR Trial Bundle damaged or missing components. If you decide to keep the PlayStation VR Trial Bundle or return the PlayStation VR Trial Bundle damaged or missing components, we will charge your credit card $299.99."
That is a smoking deal, this bundle usually goes for $449.99. Apparently, Sony sent out these email invites to 1,400 people. These folks did have to enter a valid credit card and Sony says they check to be sure the card is valid. Some reports have stated that you have to pay for the system up front, but Sony isn’t very clear on that. What Sony says is that it will "check to ensure that your credit card is valid" which isn’t saying they will put a hold on the $299.99, but UploadVR states that there is a hold placed and it is only released when you return the system. The program period for this deal runs from December 1-14. Presumably, these bundles have the new PSVR head unit that debuted back in October.
