Hype surrounding foldable smartphones is at an all-time high on the heels of Apple's iPhone Duo launch. While an old rival has entered the foldable chat for the first time, it's actually good news for Samsung, which has seen spikes in both search queries and sales related to its latest-generation folding Galaxy devices. It's also good news for consumers—more competition is always a good thing, and as it relates to Samsung's latest folding devices, all three main models are on sale right now.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 And Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Are $200 Off
Starting with the bigger of the two, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Samsung's flagship foldable with an 8-inch AMOLED main display (2504x2256, 1-120Hz refresh rate) and 6.5-inch AMOLED cover display (2520x1080, 1-120Hz).
It's powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, along with 12GB of RAM on the 256GB and 512GB storage variants, and 16GB of RAM on the 1TB storage model. And for taking photos, both the cover and main inner screen sport 10MP (f2.2) front-facing cameras, while the rear houses a 200MP (f/1.7) main shooter, a 50MP (f/1.9) ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP (f/2.4) telephoto camera.
Other highlights include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 wireless connectivity, 5G support (sub-6GHz and mmWave), and a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 45W wired, 25W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging.
Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 sports a 7.6-inch AMOLED display (2448x1828, 1-120Hz refresh rate) and 5.5-inch AMOLED cover display (1972x1248, 1-120Hz).
It flexes the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip as its Ultra sibling, and also comes with 12GB of RAM on the 256GB/512GB storage models, and 16GB of RAM on the 1TB storage SKU. However, there are some key differences.
Looking at the cameras, the non-Ultra model uses the same 10MP shooters for front-facing duties, while the rear cameras consist of a 50MP (f/1.8) main shooter and a 50MP (f/1.9) ultra-wide lens; there is no telephoto camera on the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8. Still, it takes excellent photos.
