Fresh Galaxy S27 Ultra CAD Leaks Reveal A Bold Camera Redesign

Samsung appears ready to break away from its signature "floating lens" look on its next flagship Galaxy smartphone. Newly leaked CAD renders shared by tech leakers Ice Universe, Sonny Dickson, and Max Jambor suggest the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra will adopt a raised, rectangular camera arrangement on its rear panel instead of individual, isolated camera cutouts.

The leaked CAD renders show a prominent top-left camera island that groups the rear sensors onto a unified block. Within the block, two large circular cutouts house individual lenses, while a separate pill-shaped section holds a third camera alongside the LED flash.

This layout is a distinct departure from the Galaxy S26 Ultra. It's also familiar, in that the same overall design is what Samsung's rumored Galaxy S26 Edge was going to look like before that handset was ultimately scrapped.

These new renders also reinforce ongoing rumors that Samsung is streamlining the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s camera array from four rear sensors down to three. Past reports suggest Samsung is ditching the legacy 3x telephoto lens in favor of an upgraded 50MP 5x periscope telephoto module. Sonny Dickson’s posts also hint that this redesigned housing could span two different device sizes, sparking speculation about a potential Galaxy S27 Pro or dual-size Ultra release.

Bearing in mind that none of this is official (not yet, anyway), moving away from flat floating rings toward a raised module could potentially offer some engineering advantages that go beyond a visual refresh. Elevating the array frees up internal space inside the chassis, giving Samsung room to fit thicker optical components without making the phone bulky. Likewise, the larger module surface area could also accommodate a built-in Qi2 magnetic ring array behind the back panel without interference from the camera housing.

Depending on what else Samsung has on tap for its Galaxy S27 series, the rear camera redesign alone could give the company's next-generation handsets their biggest design language change in quite some time.
