Roccat Announces Savu Mid-Size Gaming Mouse with Stat Tracking

Don't sweat it if you've never heard of Roccat Studios. Based out of Germany and focused on gaming peripherals, Roccat Studios has only recently begun making a push into the U.S. market, where it will go up against established entities like Razer and Logitech. One of the products it plans to take with it into battle is its Savu gaming mouse.

The Savu touts a "true 4000 DPI optical sensor" and supports the company's unique Easy-Shift[+] technology, which allows users to assign dual functions to the mouse buttons. It's also the first rodent to feature a stats and trophy system called the Roccat Achievements Display, or R.A.D, which is an application that tracks and rewards a range of gaming feats, including mouse movement, button clicks, scroll steps, and more.

"The driver-based software compiles user data, provides a range of statistics for analysis, and hands out trophies when exceptional milestones have been reached," Roccat explains. "It’s an entertaining way for gamers to keep track of their mouse skills – and it even lets players share their accomplishments with others via social network sites, like Facebook."

Other features include a 7-button button design (programmable with up to 12 functions using Easy-Shift[+] technology), customizable lighting system, and a mid-size design that supposedly "pampers the hands with an ergonomic right-hand thumb rest and soft-touch surface."

The Savu will launch sometime after March 6, 2012. No word yet on price.
