Red Dead Redemption 2 Delayed Again By Rockstar Games, Now Set For October 2018 Release
However, in May 2017, Rockstar Games said that the game would be delayed until Spring 2018. Today, Rockstar has penciled in another delay, now saying that the game will be available on October 26th, 2018. If this launch date holds up (we're not holding our breaths), the game will arrive two years after it was first announced, and one year after it was originally scheduled to go on sale.
"We apologize to everyone disappointed by this delay," wrote Rockstar. "While we had hoped to have the game out sooner, we require a little extra time for polish.
"We sincerely thank you for your patience and hope that when you get to play the game, you will agree the wait will have been worth it."
Red Dead Redemption 2 will be the first game that Rockstar has built from scratch to take advantage of current generation consoles like the Xbox One S/Xbox One X and the PlayStation 4/PlayStation 4 Pro. As we have previously reported, the game will follow center on outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang. Red Dead Redemption 2 looks absolutely gorgeous and will allow players to ride horses (of course), attack enemies with a bow and arrow (among other period-specific weapons), and participate in the usual hijinks like robbing, killing and fighting. In the meantime, enjoy these new screenshots from Rockstar (which depict the game running on current gen consoles):
