LG G8X ThinQ Arrives Next Month With Trick Dual Screen Accessory For $700 (Hands On)
Rather than using a large folding screen like the Samsung Galaxy Fold, LG is taking a more practical approach with the G8X ThinQ by pairing it with what it calls a Dual Screen accessory. The Dual Screen pretty much acts like a case, but instead of merely providing additional protection for the phone’s display, it gives you double the screen real estate.
The G8X ThinQ itself has a large 6.4-inch FHD+ OLED panel with a resolution of 2340x1080. The Dual Screen mirrors those specifications, and even includes an additional 2.1-inch monochrome Cover Display on the outside. It connects to the G8X ThinQ via a USB-C port and features a 360-degree "Freestop Hinge".
Beyond the trick Dual Screen option, the G8X ThinQ has all the features that you would expect from a 2019 flagship including a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and microSD expansion (up to 2TB). There's an in-display fingerprint reader (a first for an LG smartphone) and a dedicated button for the Google Assistant. On the front of the phone you'll find a single 32MP selfie camera, while the back features a 12MP primary sensor and a 13MP wide-angle sensor. Powering the smartphone is a 4,000 mAh battery.
LG is being very aggressive with pricing on the LG8 X ThinQ, and bundling it with the Dual Screen accessory for $699.99 unlocked. The company says that the smartphone will be available for sale in the United States starting on November 1st from all major wireless carriers and retailers (including favorites like Best Buy and Amazon). LG adds that carrier promotions could knock off up to $300 off the purchase price of the G8X ThinQ, so stay tuned over the next week to see what's sooking with respect to deals.
