Lenovo Unveils Miix 10.1-inch Tablet with Folio Flip Keyboard
Lenovo just won’t quit with the quirky form factors (which we’re glad for), and the company’s latest innovation is the Lenovo Miix, a 10.1-inch Windows 8 tablet that comes equipped with a “quick flip” detachable folio case that doubles as an AccuType keyboard.
The device has a 10.1-inch HD (1366x768) IPS display and runs on a dual-core Intel Atom processor with 64GB of built-in storage, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, optional 3G-GPS, and 10 hours of battery life. The tablet itself weighs 1.2 pounds and is just 0.4 inches thick.

The concept is that the Miix performs double duty as both a tablet and a lightweight laptop. “Users don’t want to choose between a laptop and a tablet,” said Bai Peng, vice president and general manager, notebook business unit, Lenovo Business Group. “They want both without compromise, and Lenovo Miix delivers.”
Of course, that’s been the goal of plenty of PC makers’ tablets-with-keyboards, and some devices are more adept at the whole ‘tweener concept than others, so it remains to be seen if the Mixx, with its Atom chip, can pass muster.

The device will be available at some point this summer for $500.
Lenovo also announced a trio of IdeaPad models (the S400 Touch [$449], S500 Touch [$579], and S210 Touch [$249]) that are available with Intel Core i3 or i5 (Ivy Bridge) processors and displays ranging from 11.6 to 15.6 inches, as well as IdeaPad U330 ($799) and U430 ($899) ultrabooks that run Intel (Haswell) chips and offer SSD storage and NVIDIA discrete graphics.
