For Honor Is Free To Play On Console And PC This Weekend And Discounted Up To 75 Percent Off

For Honor

Ubisoft is letting gamers play For Honor free starting today and running through Sunday or Monday, depending on your platform, during which time you can also purchase the title for a deep discount. The sale actually runs longer than the free weekend, so you have some time to decide if you want to keep playing, or move onto something else. If it's the former, all of your progress will be transferred over, so there is no worry of having to start over.

The free weekend for gameplay applies to all available platforms, including the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 game consoles, and Windows PCs. Here are the dates and times for each one:
  • Xbox One: Starts on May 3, 2018 at 1am PDT, and will end on May 7, 2018 at 12am PDT
  • PlayStation 4: Starts on May 3, 2018 at 1am PDT, and will end on May 7, 2018 at 12am PDT
  • Windows PC: Starts on May 3, 2018 at 10am PDT, and will end on May 6, 2018 at 1pm PDT
For Honor launched last year amid much hype and excitement, though much of that quickly waned in the wake of network problems and poor matchmaking. Players also raged against the game's microtransactions—a user on Reddit did the math and figured out it would take two and a half years of gameplay, or $700 in cold hard cash, to unlock all of the game's content. Players even scheduled a boycott at one point.

Since then, Ubisoft has addressed many of the early complaints, including the addition of dedicated servers. And for the free weekend, Ubisoft is bringing back the game's Warrior Training Program.

"The For Honor team will also re-introduce the Warrior Training Program, an initiative that will reward existing and new players who work together, during the free weekend. Seasoned warriors who complete five matches while grouped with Free Weekend players (who do not own the game) will receive two weeks of revamped Champion Status, valued at 8,000 Steel, which will deliver even more XP boosts to players and their team as well as more loot following a match," Ubisoft said.

An accompanying video announcing the free weekend promotes a savings of up to 67 percent, though many of the discounts are actually as high as 75 percent. On the PC, the Deluxe Edition sells for $17.50, down from $70. The Gold Edition and Standard Edition are also both marked down 75 percent, at $25 (down from $100) and $15 (down from $60), respectively, while the Starter Edition is 33 percent off at $10.04 (down from $15).

Here are the other versions that are on sale:
The sale ends on May 15 at 8am PDT for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. On PC, the sale runs through May 15th on Uplay and May 7th on Steam.
