Many Destiny 2 gamers are not particularly happy with how the title turned out and they have been making a stink about it. Bungie caught a whiff and as a result has decided to cancel today's livestream showcasing the game's upcoming expansion, Curse of Osiris. It was to be the third and last livestream promoting the expansion, but instead Bungie is penning a blog post that will address the state of the game.

"We had planned to conduct the final stream prior to the launch of 'Curse of Osiris' to show off some of the weapons and armor the expansion includes. Instead, we are investing all our efforts into delivering some higher priority information about Destiny 2. You’ll hear from studio leadership about their assessment of Destiny all up, they’ll talk about our goals for the game going forward, and you’ll also learn about how we’re reacting to your feedback with some game updates that will arrive in the next few weeks," community manager Davide "Deej" Dague posted.

The blog post is scheduled to go live sometime today. Presumably it will tackle the touchy topic of microtransactions and so-called loot boxes. Related to that is a recent change Bungie made to Destiny 2's XP system after players discovered a drop in XP depending on what modes they played, and for how long, without any heads up.

This hidden scaling system that reduced the amount of XP awarded to players became a major point of contention over the holiday weekend. The major issue is that the onscreen information seemed to suggest that XP was being gained/earned at a normal rate, but that wasn't the case. After being caught, so to speak, Bungie responded by removing the XP scaling system, but also doubled the amount of XP needed to level up, from 80,000 to 160,000.

None of this has sat well with gamers, who are understandably miffed about the situation. However, the XP system is only part of the problem.

"I feel as though Bungie tried so hard to fix the storyline In Destiny 2 (which I thoroughly enjoyed by the way) that everything got left on the back burner. It’s almost like they completely flipped the issues that they had in Destiny 1 and Desinty 2. Now the storyline is good, but the insane loot system, the tokens, and the zero personality to crucible choices, weapon rolls and the one use shaders are, in my opinion, ridiculous. Also, the fact that every ounce of lore behind the Iron Banner (which may seem trivial I know but I’m a huge lore nerd) made me not want to participate in Banner at all because it completely destroyed the reason for it, along with no light level enabling," a user lamented on

The Curse of Osiris expansion is due out on Tuesday, December 5. Bungie has a small window before then to appease Destiny 2 players and show them it's committed to fixing the game's flaws, perceived or otherwise.
