Best Buy Deal Cuts $2,200 Off HP's Flagship RTX 5090 Gaming PC

If you want to jump straight to the absolute ceiling of PC gaming performance without paying peak prices, Best Buy is running a massive markdown on HP's top-tier Omen 45L desktop configured with NVIDIA's flagship GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card. While still not cheap, Best Buy's discount slashes $2,200 off this fully loaded gaming rig.

You can score the 'Omen by HP 45L' gaming desktop with a GeForce RTX 5090 inside for $4,799.99 at Best Buy (31% off, save $2,200), or snag it direct from HP for the same price. Yeah, that's still a big price tag, but it's also lower than any of the of the in-stock and standalone GeForce RTX 5090 cards at Best Buy, which start at $4,829.99 (ASUS ROG Astral) and go up from there.

From that perspective, it's like buying a flagship GPU at today's inflated pricing and getting a free high-end PC to go along with it. Suffice it to say, this is also Best Buy's cheapest desktop configuration with the same class of graphics card.

This is similar to the Max 45L we reviewed, though that was an AMD-based system. Backing up the monster GPU in this setup is an Intel Core Ultra 9 285K Arrow Lake processor, which is a 24-core chip comprised of 8 performance cores (3.7GHz to 5.7GHz) and 16 efficient cores (3.2GHz to 4.6GHz), along with 40MB L2 + 36MB L3 for 76MB of total cache, and a dedicated NPU flexing 13 TOPS of AI muscle.

This system also comes equipped with 64GB of DDR5-5600 memory and a 2TB solid state drive (SSD), so it is not short on RAM or storage, either. Those capacities help justify spending in the neighborhood of five grand (with tax).

The Omen by HP 45L tackles heat with a patented Omen Cryo Chamber cooling system that isolates the all-in-one CPU liquid cooler in a separate compartment at the top of the case to pull in fresh ambient air. The full-tower chassis also relies on standard industry-sized components and tool-less side panels, ensuring straightforward component swaps whenever you decide to upgrade parts down the line. Realistically though, these specs should stave off the itch to upgrade for a long time to come.

Naturally, not everyone has the means or desire to spend several grand on a gaming PC, no matter how cherry the specs. These are not flagship parts or even cutting-edge ones, particularly the older processor and DDR4 memory. However, it is much more affordable, and it's one of the least expensive configs around with a GeForce RTX 5070 inside.
