Battlefield V ‘Firestorm’ 64-Player Battle Royale Mode Showcased In New Trailer
The new mode is called Firestorm, and it supports a maximum of 64 players. However, these 64 players will be split up into 16 squads, with four people per squad. Firestorm is the largest map ever created for a Battlefield and players will be surrounding by what is literally a firestorm. The storm will slowly close in players, shrinking the playable area.
Firestorm will include destructible environments and objects, and will be loaded with plenty of vehicles for you to unleash mayhem on your opponents.
Elsewhere in the six-and-a-half-minute video are discussions on War Stories, the eight total multiplayer modes, changes to game mechanics and overall refinements that have been made in Battlefield V compared to its predecessors.
The Battlefield V open beta is available right now for those that pre-ordered the game, or anyone who subscribes to EA Access, Origin Access Premier or Origin Access Beta. Then, starting on September 6th, the game will be available to all Origin players on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
EA recently announced that Battlefield V would be delayed, moving its launch date from October 19th to November 20th. Many feel that competition from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 – both due to drop in October – were the reason for the delay.
"We know moving the launch date means that we all have to wait a little longer," EA explained. "But we're going to take our time to make sure we get it right."
