In case you haven’t been keeping up, late last month AMD officially announced the consumer version of its Vega-based graphics cards to much fanfare. With prices starting at $399 for the Radeon RX Vega 56, $499 for Radeon Vega RX 64 Air Cooled and topping out at $699 for the Radeon RX Vega 64 Liquid Cooled, AMD is playing squarely in territory currently occupied by NVIDIA’s higher-end GeForce GTX 10 graphics cards. As it turns out, late this week AMD finally had a shipment delivered to us that contained a graphics card presentation unlike any other we've seen to date. Luckily for us, we’ve... Read more...
We are neck-deep in testing AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper processors and their companion X399 motherboards, and will have a full review with benchmarks and overclocking posted soon. In the meantime, the media kit AMD sent with the processor samples was so over-the-top and customized that we just had to show it to you. Here is a quick unboxing video of the processors and Threadripper-related goodies that’s we’ve got in the lab. Unfortunately, time isn’t on our side with this launch, so we burned through this one, but we still think you’ll enjoy the hardcore geek-porn. And no, you can’t have that personalized... Read more...
Update 3/9/2017 - Our full review of the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, with copious benchmarks, is live here!If there's one thing that gets the average, self-respecting Tech-geek jazzed, it's the smell of fresh, new PC gaming hardware in the morning. As such, along with your morning dose of caffeinated something-or-other, we're here to unbox the all new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. Although working at a publication like HotHardware often involves tight deadlines and countless hours of benchmarking, product photography, and writing, plenty of fun activities get thrown into the mix as well. Case in point--I came home from the Intel Developers Forum this past week to a pair of boxes that were begging to be torn open in an unboxing video. So, I that’s what I did. And what I found inside the boxes is the kind of stuff tech-enthusiasts drool over. Not only was there some killer hardware to ogle, but it was presented in a very unique way...check this out... If you stay on top of... Read more...
As you can imagine, we tend to get a lot of boxes here at Hot Hardware.  Some packages are small, some larger, some fancy, some pretty ho-hum.  Intel shipped us a package this week. It came in a typical, brown cardboard box. However, inside that box was something more than a little flashy (it flashed us quite a bit actually), it was downright freaky... Behold, it's some sort of spacey, alien cargo capsule... I think. Now typically we don't open what looks to be at least a twelve pack of Halo plasma grenades; well, not one that is shipped from strangers anyway. Since this one came from... Read more...
In the last half year, Dell has been busy revamping their entire desktop XPS lineup. First came the XPS 420 late last year, a premium multimedia workstation. Then Dell introduced a new mid-range gaming oriented desktop, the XPS 630 early this year. The 630 is a mid-tower sized gaming desktop styled after the flagship XPS 700 series but with more affordable components and a relatively thrifty price tag. We found the XPS 630 to be an excellent machine in our evaluation. While these new additions to Dell's desktop XPS lineup were certainly welcome, we hadn't seen a major update to the flagship...
