The NVIDIA Titan RTX is a GPU with somewhat of an identity crisis. The card is based on a fully-enabled Turing TU102 GPU, and is technically the most powerful graphics card in NVIDIA’s current line-up for gaming. If you hit NVIDIA’s site and check out the Titan RTX’s landing page, however, it isn’t being targeted at gamers. We already know that NVIDIA's GeForce RTX family of gaming GPUs are beastly performers, and they are also the first-generation of gaming cards that can handle real-time ray tracing. But that's not all that NVIDIA has up its sleeve with respect to its new Turing GPUs. The company is also touting its mesh shaders, which help to enhance image quality while at the same time maintaining high levels of overall performance. Few people are going to plunk down $2,499 for NVIDIA's beastly Titan RTX graphics card if all they want to do is play games, that's a fair statement. Those that do, however, will end up with a very fast card. This is evidenced by some early benchmarks, including a 3DMark run in which an overclocked and liquid cooled Titan RTX topped 40,000 points in the Graphics test. Titan RTX, or T-Rex, as NVIDIA has appropriately nicknamed it, is built around the company's Turing GPU. Following a rash of strategic 'leaks' by social media influencers, NVIDIA on Monday formally introduced its Titan RTX graphics card, a heavy-hitting accelerator that the company is appropriately billing as "the world's most powerful desktop GPU." It's built to handle the data-crunching rigors of deep learning applications, and of course brings ray tracing performance to the fold. It seems NVIDIA is collaborating with several social media influencers to drum up excitement about an unreleased and unannounced product—the Titan RTX.
