The Register is claiming that Panasonic is preparing to launch one of the industry's first Blu-Ray players in June. The strange aspect of this launch however, is the fact that the player will not be able to play Blu-Ray movies out of the box as there is no bundled software to support this functionality. So essentially, everyone purchasing this player is really buying a very expensive Blu-Ray player that doesn't play movies. Apparently, those wanting to see Blu-Ray movies will have to wait to get their hands on a Playstation 3 to do so. Panasonic certainly isn't bundling any such code, curiously, even though it plans to include PowerDVD... Read more...
Panasonic said will start selling a Blu-ray high-definition disc player in September for under $1,500 and sees up to 5 million of these new DVD players sold industry-wide in their first year. "We think adoption will be strong, based on broad support. For the first 12 months, we expect 4 million to 5 million units to be sold beginning in May and across all platforms, including standalones, computers and gaming systems," said Reid Sullivan, vice president merchandising, Panasonic's entertainment group. Sullivan said Panasonic sees no need to develop a player to support both Blu-ray and the rival format known as HD DVD, despite a raging war between... Read more...

Thermalright SI-120 Heatsink @ SystemCooling "The new Thermalright SI-120 heatsink is a redesigned XP-120 that offers greater motherboard compatibility while still accommodating a 120mm fan of your choice. In fact, Thermalright claims the SI-120 will fit all known Intel P4 and AMD K8 motherboards (at least they haven't found one yet it didn't fit). The SI-120 incorporates five heat pipes to transfer heat out of the copper base into a large array of aluminum fins (just like the original XP-120)." Neoseeker Thermaltake Golden Orb II @ Neoseeker "The cooler has a fairly manageable 120mm diameter but weighs... Read more...

Chenbro Gaming Bomb II @ Viper Lair: "Chenbro came out a winner with this case, its' cooling capabilities are great, the handles make it a dream to move around, and the tool-less installation of drives makes swapping drives in and out a breeze. The case itself is rather light, as would be expected with an aluminum case, and the brushed metal and rounded... Read more...
