T-Mobile prides itself on providing sweet perks for its customers on top of its class-leading 5G speeds and availability. The company uses T-Mobile Tuesdays to give out freebies, and February 23rd will see the arrival of an enhanced version of the popular Pandora music streaming service. According to T-Mobile, this version of Pandora is based on the current free tier but will provide ad-free music stations on the weekends. Customers will also have access to "Top Track" SiriusXM stations, including Hits 2, The Heat, and The Highway. Hence why satellite music giant SiriusXM today announced that it is acquiring Pandora for around $3.5 billion. Once closed, the all-stock transaction will create the world's largest audio entertainment company, SiriusXM says. Last year, there were reports floating around that steaming music service Pandora was open to takeover bid from SiriusXM. Well, the new year arrived and nothing ever came of those reports. However, SiriusXM is once again circling Pandora, but it’s not going for a full-blown acquisition. Instead, SiriusXM is entering into a strategic partnership with Pandora and will invest $480 million into the company. "The investment from SiriusXM infuses resources to help Pandora continue to grow and innovate," said Pandora CEO and founder Tim Westergren. Satellite radio is about to become an even more integrated experience in new Ford vehicles. The automaker has announced plans to become the first in the industry to launch MySMX and SiriusXM On Demand alongside satellite radio in vehicles. For the first time ever, subscribers will be able to control SiriusXM Internet Radio programming and listen to SiriusXM's personalized commercial-free music channels using their vehicle's in-dash radio. It's essentially an extension of what has been possible before for subscribers, tying in some nice interplay with smartphones.
