Speaking of the graphics card, the Area-51m can accommodate NVIDIA's new real-time ray-tracing graphics cards, topping out with the GeForce RTX 2080. As such, we've had multiple requests to get our hands on one of the newer models and give it a full review. Well, for those who asked (and those who didn't), that's exactly what we're doing here. Apple is often frowned upon in the tech world for many reasons, one of the major reasons being its famously closed ecosystem. Apple has often gone out of its way to ensure the use of approved accessories and software as well as ensuring if your device needs repair, you have to come to an Apple authorized service center. Apple's policy means you can’t simply order parts and fix your Apple gear, in many instances, as you would if you were using a Windows machine or Android smartphone. Apple famously did this with iOS 11.3 when it bricked iPhones with third-party screen repairs. Apple is now using proprietary software that will end any chance of independently repairing a new MacBook Pro or... Read more...

Gamers are willing to spend more on PC hardware than the average consumer, but at the same time, they are a knowledgeable and discerning bunch who understand exactly what it is they are getting for their hard-earned buck. There are two major camps in the PC world that most consumer types fall into- Windows or Mac. Windows users sometimes scoff at Mac fans due to the premium Apple commands for its computers, even though the hardware inside the machines is often dated compared to similarly priced Windows machines. Mac fans sometimes scoff at Windows users over build quality, design, software, security, and lots of other points. Clearly, both platforms have their pros and cons. However, especially as of late, it's undeniable that Apple has really been trailing in base technology of its Mac platform.  As such, Mac software developer Rogue Amoeba is bashing Apple for what it calls the "sad state" of Mac hardware.... We have covered Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Yoga series since its inception, and while the company might only be on its 3rd generation machine, what's under its hood is what might be thought of as four generations of advancement since then. Of course we are speaking of the 8th Gen Intel Core-i5 8250U quad-core mobile processor on board the new Thinkpad X1 Yoga. What makes this chip different from its predecessor, is it has 4 psychical cores now and supports Hyper-Threading, all within the same 15W power envelope. At just 15W the Core i5-8250U doesn't require hefty thermal solution and large chassis to prevent a full on meltdown  so, Lenovo was able to pack an impressive 8 thread chip... Read more...

If you have a 13-inch MacBook Pro that lacks the Touch Bar and was made between October 2016 and October 2017, Apple is replacing the battery in some of the machines. Apple has determined that on a limited number of instances, a component may fail and lead to the integrated battery expanding. Expanding batteries have in the past been linked to fires, but it seems that isn’t the case here. Apple is clear that this isn't a safety issue and that it will replace eligible batteries at no cost. Eligibility for the battery replacement program is linked to the serial number of the laptop. Owners of MacBook Pro notebooks built in the date range mentioned before can go to the Apple support page for... Read more...
