What do you do when you have a massively successful game franchise on your hands? You monetize it with offline products, of course! Epic Games needs no such lesson in these things. It's already teamed up with Hasbro to bring Fortnite to the Monopoly board, and coms next summer, the first of several Nerf blasters built after in-game counterparts will be available. Hasbro provided an early look at the upcoming Fortnite AR-L Blaster. It's a colorful contraption, just like the one in the game, except now Fortnite fans will be able to physically touch it. Epic Games struck gold with Fortnite, the incredibly popular battle royale shooter. Despite being a free-to-download title, Epic Game is raking in barrels of cash through in-game purchases. To keep the influx of cash flowing at a steady rate, Epic Games has teamed up with Hasbro to offer Fortnite-themed Nerf Blasters and a Monopoly board game. A Fortnite-themed Monopoly game feels like a natural extension, given that the goal of Monopoly is to ruin your opponents—usually family and friends—and be the last person standing. Chillax: you can now use “selfie” to score points in Scrabble. A new version of The Official SCRABBLE Player’s Dictionary adds about 5,000 new words, including many tech-related terms. Expect to see “hashtag,” “texter,” and even “geocache,” in your Scrabble games. Of course, there are plenty of non-tech new words that are getting attention. “Mojito,” anyone? Sick of hearing the word "selfie?" Would nine scrabble points change your mind? No?
