It has been about a month since Google released Android 8.0 Oreo and now the wait is on for Android device owners to receive the update. Unfortunately for Moto G4 owners, there is a cloud of uncertainty that hangs over their handset. This is despite Motorola's previous promise that the Moto G4 would see an upgrade to Oreo. Motorola made the promise when launching the Moto G4. At the time, Motorola advertised that "Moto Pure phones like the Moto G4 Plus will get upgraded to Android operating system versions N and O." At the very least, Motorola should be committed to rolling out an Android 8.0 Oreo update to the Moto G4 Plus, though both it and the regular Moto G4 do not appear on Motorola's recently... Motorola recently launched two new flagship Droid offerings, the Moto Z and Moto Z Force. We really liked them for their ultra-premium design, strong performance, and innovative Moto Mods add-on features. However, Moto is also ushering in a refresh of their more mainstream, cost-effective Moto G family as well. We last looked at the Moto G in 2014. We weren't blown away by performance, however, we were impressed how much the device managed to offer for just $149. The Moto G delivered Android’s core experience with good enough web browsing and general productivity performance to stand above other budget smartphones at the time. For once, “budget” did not mean a laggy experience... Read more...
If you’re a cheapskate when it comes to purchasing a new smartphone, Amazon is doing its best to revive the Fire Phone without actually manufacturing its own hardware (which was a disastrous endeavor). The online retail giant has initially partnered with two hardware OEM to subsidize the cost of brand new Android smartphone in exchange for some Amazon-specific “enhancements”. The subsidized pricing comes in the form of a Special Offers-like program that puts ads for Amazon products and services on the device’s lock screen. You can opt to click on the offers to see if they’re to your liking or immediately swipe them away into the digital abyss. However, you can choose how frequently they appear... Read more...

Lenovo just disclosed that Moto G4 Plus smartphone will be upgraded in 2017 to Android O. This leak has come ahead of Google’s announcement of Android O, which should be deployed over a year from now. Image from AnzuhoGoogle announced Android N far ahead of schedule. Instead of waiting for this year’s Google I/O conference, Google made the Android N Developer Preview available as an OTA update in early March. The Android N Developer Preview currently supports the Nexus, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Nexus 9, and the Pixel C. Motorola's getting ready to release a new generation of its stylish and relatively low cost G series smartphones. Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing hinted as much when introducing its own Zuk Z2 Pro in Beijing earlier this week, adding that Lenovo's Motorola division is prepping a new and "exciting" device for a June 9 debut. Mr. Yuanqing stopped himself from providing any other concrete details, such as specs, price, or even a name. However, recent rumors and leaks suggest the company is working on two handsets, the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. That seems to be the trend these days, with Apple offering two versions of its flagship iPhone 6s devices (iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus) and the same with Samsung... Read more...
