Motorola’s Sexy 2016 Moto G Mid-Range Smartphone Tipped For June 9th Debut

Motorola's getting ready to release a new generation of its stylish and relatively low cost G series smartphones. Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing hinted as much when introducing its own Zuk Z2 Pro in Beijing earlier this week, adding that Lenovo's Motorola division is prepping a new and "exciting" device for a June 9 debut.

Mr. Yuanqing stopped himself from providing any other concrete details, such as specs, price, or even a name. However, recent rumors and leaks suggest the company is working on two handsets, the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. That seems to be the trend these days, with Apple offering two versions of its flagship iPhone 6s devices (iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus) and the same with Samsung (Galaxy  S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge).

What looks to be an official press render of the forthcoming G4 Plus is making the rounds courtesy Evan Blass (@evleaks on Twitter). The photo shows a metal frame with Motorola's classic styling. You can also make out a square-shaped fingerprint reader, an amenity that doesn't appear on other leaked photos of the regular G4.

According to Roland Quandt, the "master of cheap scoops," the Moto G4 Plus will sport a 5.5-inch display, 16-megapixel rear camera, and 16GB of internal storage. The regular G4 will be the same size and have the same amount of storage, but a 13-megapixel camera. Both will be available in black or white, the G4 Plus for 280 euros (~$315) and the G4 for 240 euros (~$270).
