It's often said that 'hell hath no fury like a woman scorned', and guess what? Lara Croft is looking pretty damn scorned in a new extended trailer by Square Enix showcasing her next adventure, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The Tomb Raider protagonist has always been a badass, of course, but Shadow of the Tomb Raider takes on a decidedly darker and grittier tone than previous installments. Rise of the Tomb Raider has hit the PC lining it up in our gun sights for graphics, gameplay and performance analysis. The game launched on the Xbox family of consoles a few months back and has since been ported to PC thanks to NIXXES Software. During Microsoft’s press briefing at Gamescom, it was revealed that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be exclusive to Xbox One. A sequel to the Tomb Raider reboot released in 2013, and developed by Crystal Dynamics, the news comes as a surprise considering that the previous title was available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms. So what was Square Enix thinking when making this deal? Tomb Raider sold 3.6 million units within its first four weeks - a number that many developers and publishers would be happy about. The last Tomb Raider movie -- Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life -- grossed just $67 million domestically and $157 million worldwide when it debuted in 2003. Those kind of figures don't inspire subsequent attempts to capitalize on a franchise, but with Tomb Raider recently getting a reboot, Hollywood may once again give Lara Croft a shot on the silver screen. According to a report in Variety, Crystal Dynamics is working closely with GK Films on another Tomb Raider movie, a rare move when game makers typically just hand off film licensing rights and hope for the best.
