Rebooted Tomb Raider Might Be Headed to the Silver Screen
According to a report in Variety, Crystal Dynamics is working closely with GK Films on another Tomb Raider movie, a rare move when game makers typically just hand off film licensing rights and hope for the best. GK Films, by the way, has produced a number of hits, including The Departed, Argo, Rango, and Hugo.
"They are working from this new take that we've given them," said Darrel Gallagher, head of studio at Crystal Dynamics. "It's a good partnership. We're seeing the challenges through the same lens."
Will Angelina Jolie reprise her roll as Lara Croft? That isn't likely, Gallagher said it was important for GK Films to build off the rebooted version of the franchise rather than make a move based on the old Tomb Raider. Angelina Jolie was a great fit for the Lara Croft of old, but probably isn't a good choice for the modern day heroine, who's far less confident than her predecessor.
