If you were a bit disappointed by the specs of the HTC U Ultra that was released earlier this year, the Taiwanese company is looking to grab your attention with the new HTC U11. Not only have full specs for the device leaked to the internet, but there is also a hands-on video that shows the smartphone in all its glory. When it comes down to brass tacks, the HTC U11 includes everything that most of us were expecting would arrive with the HTC Ultra. The leaked specs are as follows: Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB RAM (6GB RAM for Chinese market) 64GB internal storage (128GB for Chinese market) microSD expansion up to 2TB 5.5-inch QHD display covered in Gorilla Glass 5 (534 ppi) 12.2MP... LG just recently launched its swanky G6 flagship, and Samsung will set off a nuke in the Android smartphone marketplace with its Galaxy S8 and S8+ later this week (although T-Mobile jumped the gun for its customers that preordered the smartphones). But what about HTC? Once a name synonymous with high-end Android smartphones, the company has fallen off the radar screen for most buyers in recent years. However, with excitement building around the LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8 family, HTC is doing the next best thing that it can to court potential customers: price cuts. In this case, HTC is cutting prices on some of its most popular models, including the U Ultra that was released earlier this year,... Read more...
A pair of spiffy Android handsets are about to be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat. One of them is the stunningly beautify and affordable Honor 8 by Huawei (check out our full review here), a phone with a 15-layer glass backside construction that captures light and creates unique looking effects. The other is the HTC 10, a flagship smartphone powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 System-on-Chip (we also have a full review of that one). Huawei teased the Android 7.0 Nougat update a few days and today made it official. The over-the-air (OTA) update is being rolled out "sequentially," according to a translated press release. Honor 8 owners should be on the lookout for an update notification letting... Read more...
While shoppers are busy trampling over each other in pursuit of the hottest Black Friday deals, HTC 10 owners can sit back and wait for a treat that is arriving at no cost. It's Nougat, the delicious Android 7.0 update that is being pushed out today to unlocked HTC 10 devices. It's not clear how HTC might be staggering the release, but the company did confirm that testing is finished and that it is rolling out Nougat starting today. The caveat here is that only unlocked HTC 10 handsets are getting the update. While HTC was able to complete what it calls TA (technical assistance) testing, wireless carriers that tack on their own software bits will have to perform additional testing before certifying... The HTC 10 is a perfectly competent flagship Android smartphone (see our review here), but it launched with what some thought was a rather lofty price tag: $699 unlocked. And faced with stiff competition from deep-pocketed Samsung and its Galaxy S7/Galaxy S7 Edge flagships, HTC hasn’t exactly found thundering sales success with the smartphone. Earlier this week, we revealed that T-Mobile has already kicked the HTC 10 out after less than three months of availability. In fact, T-Mobile dropped the HTC 10 faster than it did the sales bomb otherwise known as the BlackBerry Priv. However, HTC is taking all of this in stride, and is offering another $100 price cut on the HTC 10 via its online store.... Read more...
If you blinked you might have missed that HTC's flagship smartphone was ever available at T-Mobile. Well it was, but don't bother looking for the HTC 10 at T-Mobile at this point, because the wireless carrier served up an eviction notice to its apparently unwanted tenant and booted the smartphone from its stores just two months after its release. It seems a bit unusual, though perhaps the HTC 10 just wasn't selling enough units to hold T-Mobile's interest. This wouldn't be the first time T-Mobile quickly showed a smartphone the door after not generating enough sales. It did the same thing to BlackBerry's Priv, though embarrassingly for HTC, the Priv stayed on store shelves about twice as long.... Read more...
Now might be the time to strike if you have been wanting to get your hands on the HTC 10, but weren't a fan of its price tag. The smartphone is currently $599 USD (instead of $699) and also comes with a $100 credit for accessories. HTC launched its flagship smartphone this past April and it packs in Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon SoC, HTC's highest-resolution UltraPixel camera sensor to date, and 24-bit Hi-Res sound (you can read HotHardware’s review of the HTC 10 right here). Ordering from the website directly offers some additional benefits. The “Carbon Grey” color for example, is exclusive to the website. HTC will also give customers a $100 credit to buy accessories from the official web... Read more...
HTC launched its latest flagship smartphone on Tuesday, the aptly named HTC 10. The HTC 10 is the follow-up to devices the HTC M9 and M10 (sans the letter designation), and as such, it has a similar design language and high-end feature set. The HTC 10, however, packs some of the latest mobile hardware currently available, including Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon SoC, HTC's highest-resolution UltraPixel camera sensor to date, and 24-bit Hi-Res sound, all wrapped up in a rigid, durable metal unibody. The HTC 10 HTC has also done some interesting things with the software on the HTC 10. In addition to including the newest version of Google’s Android right out of the box (v6.0.1, Marshmallow), the HTC... Read more...
HTC unveiled its latest flagship smartphone to world early this morning, the HTC 10. If you missed our original coverage of the announcement, we’ve got it posted up for you right here. Earlier this evening, however, we were able to spend some time with HTC at an event in New York City and got some hands on time with the new phone. HTC has asked that we hold any benchmarks, technical data, or impressions of the 10’s camera performance until the full review goes live (which should be in a couple of days), but if you want a quick tour of the phone, we’ve got the goods for you here. The All New HTC 10 Android Smartphone The HTC 10 has a chiseled aluminum, uni-body chassis with distinct... Read more...
HTC didn’t have a really tight lid on its new “10” flagship leading up to its launch, as images of the final production device leaked last month. And just yesterday, a full promotional video for the HTC 10 found its way onto the web to once again spoil the fun. But today, HTC is finally having its day in the spotlight and its new flagship is clearly a shift forward for the company, even if its design is more evolutionary than revolutionary. As we mentioned yesterday, the HTC 10 has a chiseled aluminum unibody chassis and chamfered edges. The 5.2-inch QHD Super LCD 5 is covered in Gorilla Glass and if you’ve seen the HTC M9 and A9 that came before it, there are no surprises here when it comes... Read more...
When it comes to 2016’s flagship Android smartphones, we’ve already seen what Samsung and LG have to offer in the form of the Galaxy S7/S7 Edge and G5 respectively. But what about the folks at HTC? Well, thanks to a leaked promotional video, we’re getting an excellent look at the new “10” smartphone from all angles. The promo video takes some cues from 2001: A Space Odyssey before showing the HTC 10 being carved from a solid block of aluminum. The finished product is handsome, chiseled device with polished, chamfered edges and a slight camera bump on the rear. The design language is still unmistakably HTC, with perhaps a bit of iPhone 5s thrown in for good measure (when viewed from the front).... Read more...
We’ve already seen what Samsung and LG have to offer this time around in the flagship Android smartphone realm thanks to the debut for Galaxy S7/Galaxy S7 Edge and LG G5 respectively last month at MWC 2016. But what about HTC? The company has been dropping hints via teasers for the past few weeks, but as is often the case when it comes to highly anticipated smartphones, the new “10” has been leaked ahead of time for all to see. OnLeaks and EVLeaks tag-teamed the HTC 10 today with a bevy of leaked prototype shots and renders. OnLeaks kicked off the festivities with three images of a prototype in black, one of which clearly shows off the integrated USB-C port (while the LG G5 also features a USB-C... Read more...
