We learned last week that HTC plans to launch its next generation flagship — whether you call it the One (M9) or “Hima” — at the 2015 Mobile World Congress on March 1. Yesterday, it was revealed that a new smartwatch would be launched alongside the new flagship in March. Nowhere Else, which has a pretty strong track record when it comes to smartphone leaks, today has two new photos of next generation One (M9). Unlike an earlier render that broke cover earlier this month, the new photos show a device that sticks very close to the design language seen in the current One (M8). The bezels are slightly narrower and the camera area is now square versus the circular on the current smartphone. Otherwise,... Read more...
HTC made it clear at CES 2015 that it’s ready to move beyond phones. The Re camera is a prime example of HTC’s expansion into new territory, but its partnerships with Under Armour and other brands also signaled a shift in HTC’s strategy. If the rumors are true, we’ll see another product to come from HTC when it announces its next flagship phone on March 1: a smartwatch that connects to the Under Armour Record fitness service. Smartwatches were everywhere at CES 2015. This Peak smartwatch by Basis will be one of many that an HTC smartwatch would be competing with for your fitness device dollars. If HTC plans to launch a smartwatch, it’s successfully kept the news under wraps. The 2015 Mobile World Congress is set to kick off in Barcelona, Spain on March 2. However, invitations that HTC sent out today confirm that we’ll actually catch our first glimpse of its next generation flagship smartphone a day early on March 1. In true teaser fashion, HTC isn’t revealing any new details about the device and simply states that “utopia is in progress.” However, thanks to ongoing leaks, we have at least a general idea of what HTC plans to launch in early March. Although it’s possible that HTC could go with the obvious One (M9) moniker for its new flagship, ‘Hima’ has been thrown around since early December. As for the processor, the obvious choice is Qualcomm’s new 64-bit Snapdragon... Read more...
The successor to the HTC One (M8) will soon be upon us, and if these latest images are anything to go by, the new flagship smartphone is definitely a looker. Specifications for the Hima (or One M9, depending on what HTC decides naming the device) have been leaking since early October, but this is the first glimpse we’ve gotten of the smartphone.  The images don’t show a dramatic departure from what One (M7) or One (M8), but styling has never been a sore-point for HTC’s flagship smartphone so why mess up a good thing? When it comes to dimensions, the length and width of the device are slightly smaller by 1mm, while thickness has increased ever so slightly from 9.4mm to 9.56mm.  Unfortunately,... Read more...
2013 saw the release of the One (M7), and the One (M8) replaced that flagship in 2014. 2015 will soon be upon us, and HTC is once again preparing to launch a new flagship. According to the folks from @upleaks, the next generation smartphone is being developed under the codename “Hima”. Like the rumored Samsung Galaxy S6, Hima will feature an octa-core, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 3GB of RAM. Four of the cores will operate at 2GHz, while the remaining four will be clocked at 1.5GHz. Interestingly, the Hima will stick with a 5” display and the resolution will remain pegged at 1080p. With most other smartphone manufacturers jumping to QHD (2560x1440) displays for their flagship... Read more...
