The one real knock against Samsung's Gear VR Innovator Edition headset is that it's only compatible with the Galaxy Note 4, leaving owners of every other handset sitting on the sidelines to watch in envy. Everyone except for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge owners, that is. Samsung has designed a new model specifically for owners of its latest flagship Galaxy phones, and it's available to pre-order from Best Buy's website. While Best Buy gets exclusive dibs on pre-order sales, you'll be able to buy an updated "Gear VR Innovator Edition for S6," as it's called, online at Samsung.com/GearVR and BestBuy.com on Friday, May 8. In store sales at Best Buy retail locations will kick off Friday, May 15, with... Read more...
Best Buy last month gave Samsung's Gear VR Innovator Edition headset a test run by demonstrating the wearable in 100 of its locations scattered throughout the United States, giving customers an opportunity to experience what most have only read about. Apparently pleased with the response, Best Buy is getting ready to sell the headset in its stores tomorrow, March 27.This will be the first time that Samsung's Gear VR Innovator Edition will be made available to purchase in physical store locations. Up until now, it's only been available online -- Best Buy has a product listing on its website, and of course, and of course Samsung is selling the device direct to consumers. It's $200 at both portals... Read more...
At this week's Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, "VR" was a definite buzzword. You simply couldn't avoid it. Valve announced a solution, as did AMD. Even NVIDIA unveiled a monstrous graphics card that promises to be powerful enough to provide a proper, immersive VR experience. With this spring's GDC now done and over with, reports have begun to trickle out of Google's supposed interest in VR. Much like how the company has created a tuned Android for wearables, it looks like it could be doing the same for VR. It's being said that there are "tens of engineers" dedicated to the project, but there's no telling when the fruits of their labor will be seen. What we know for sure is that Google... Read more...
Quite literally, virtual reality is set to make a major play in mainstream courtesy of Samsung and Best Buy. Beginning tomorrow, February 8, 100 select Best Buy locations scattered throughout the United States will begin demoing Samsung's Gear VR headset, allowing curious customers to try it and see what all the fuss is about.Up until now, VR has mostly lived and breathed online -- it's not like you can march into a Walmart and pick up an Oculus Rift. Part of the reason is because the technology has only recently been aggressively focused on home consumers, so there aren't that many worthwhile VR products available. Samsung's Gear VR is one of them, though up to this point, it was only available... Read more...

Samsung announced some exciting products today during its Unpacked event, among them the newest Galaxy Note device, the Galaxy Note 4. Not only is the Galaxy Note 4 faster and more power efficient than its predecessor, it also brings with it an evolved S Pen with several improvements intended to make it feel more like a real pen. The Galaxy Note 4 features a 5.7-inch Quad HD (2560x1440) Super AMOLED display. Samsung showed a side-by-side comparison of its Super AMOLED screen next to a regular Quad HD LCD, and while we'll reserve judgement until we do the same in person, the Super AMOLED was clearly more vibrant and colorful. Have a look for yourself: Other hardware features include either a 2.7GHz... Read more...
