Samsung has a goal of selling 10 million Galaxy Note devices by the end of this year. It's only March, and the manufacturer is already half way to reaching that goal. Near the end of February, Samsung confirmed that it had sold more than 2 million Galaxy Notes worldwide. Just one month later, Samsung claims sales have reached 5 million units. When we reviewed the Samsung Galaxy Note, we found a lot of features that we really liked about the device. The biggest drawback to us was the fact that its large size made us feel awkward holding it to our ear like a phone. The pen technology and added features the pen enables, however, were quite enjoyable and useful. Samsung's Galaxy Note features a 1.5GHz... Read more...
T-Mobile's Chief Marketing Officer Cole Brodman has an interesting idea for revamping the mobile industry -- and it involves killing the subsidy plans that have driven smartphone adoption over the past five years. Brodman was participating in a round-table at the Geekwire tech summit; other speakers included Jon Irwin, the president of Rhapsody), Mike McSherry, CEO of Swype, and David Bluhm, CEO of Z2Live. Asked what one thing he'd change if he had the power to do so, Brodman pointed to subsidy programs. “It [device subsidies] actually distorts what devices actually cost and it causes OEMs, carriers — everybody to compete on different playing fields," the CMO said. "I think it is... Read more...

Samsung's Galaxy Note -- largely seen as the largest smartphone on the market today -- is coming to AT&T. After launching globally a while back, AT&T has decided that Samsung's large screen and S Pen technology are too much to resist here in the U.S. It's a 4G LTE device as well, arriving on February 19th in carbon blue and ceramic white. The price? $299.99 on a 2-year agreement, which is about par for the course with LTE phones these days, let alone one that's this huge. Pre-orders will begin on 2/5, and those who do will get a 2-day head start on delivery. If you've forgotten some of the specs, there's a 5.3" HD Super AMOLED display (1,280 x 800), a built-in S Pen (stylus), optional... Read more...
We recently got a chance to see the all new Samsung Galaxy Note which will be coming to AT&T’s network. This new device represents a bit of a crossover between the tablet and a smartphone with its 5.3-inch HD Super AMOLED display that supports a resolution of 1280x800s. One of the unique features of the Samsung Galaxy Note is its S Pen, which lets you interact with the device much like you would with a pen and paper. Because the Galaxy Note has such a large screen, Samsung was able to offer a few new software features, such as the ability to view your calendar and to-do list in a single view. On the hardware side, the Galaxy Note features a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 16GB of onboard... Read more...
Although we may not be able to get our hands on the Samsung Galaxy Note here in the US yet, the hybrid smartphone / tablet is already experiencing great success. According to Samsung, the company has already shipped more than 1 million units of the Galaxy Note globally. Although the number of units shipped is always greater than the number of devices in end-users' hands, this figure is still impressive, especially considering the fact that the Galaxy Note has been available for less than two months. The 5.3-inch Galaxy Note is expected to be available in the US next year. Samsung Electronics Ships over 1 Million Units of Galaxy Note Globally Samsung’s flagship smart device Galaxy Note has... Someone snooping around Samsung's Mobile Unpacked application has discovered a trio of logos for potential devices to be unveiled at the IFA trade show in September. The names on the logos are listed as "Samsung Galaxy Note," "Samsung Wave 3," and "Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7." These suggest that the company plans on announcing three new devices during its press conference on September 1: a new phone with Samsung's own Bada OS, a new Android tablet that will likely have a 7.7-inch screen based off of the current naming system, and a mysterious new device known only as the Galaxy Note. Based off of the name, it could perhaps be an e-reader, or a tab with a stylus. The images were found inside of application... Read more...
