DigiTimes reports that both AMD and Intel are making moves which are frustrating motherboard vendors. With regards to Intel, vendors are less than thrilled to see the company aggressively pulling in the launch dates for Woodcrest, Conroe, and Merom. With products launching months ahead of schedule, motherboard vendors now need to creatively figure out a way to get rid of existing product as attention will certainly drift towards the new platform once it is launched. In terms of AMD, the AM2 platform is not offering the same performance promises of Intel's new architecture. Regardless, AMD will likely launch the AM2 platform ahead of its original dates in an effort to lessen the blow... Read more...
The Revolution is over. Today Nintendo has announced that the console formerly known as "Revolution", shall officially be called "Wii"(pronounced "we"). "While the code-name "Revolution" expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that separates video game players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?" I liked Revolution. It was a good name, and went well with what the console aimed for in terms of gameplay and diverse consumer user appeal. Wii though? It just doesn't seem right.... Read more...
Well, not officially, but the latest rumor has the system's CPU clocked at 729MHz, and the GPU at 243MHz(Compared to the Gamecube's 485/162). Nintendo has repeatedly stated that they have no intention of waging any sort of hardware war with Sony or Microsoft. "So, in terms of raw next-gen horsepower Revolution clearly can't compare with the Xbox 360's three symmetrical cores running at 3.2GHz or the PS3's Cell chip. But then again, Nintendo has repeatedly stressed that they aren't looking to compete with the tech heavies at MS and Sony. The result will likely be a system that pumps out near Xbox quality visuals but offers a very unique input... Read more...

Now that ULI is owned and operated by rival NVIDIA, vendors are worried that allocation of the ULI southbridge could become a serious issue. Fortunately for ATI, the company will be releasing a new southbridge dubbed SB600 next quarter which should offer a huge improvement over their previous southbridge offferings. However, it sounds as though motherboard vendors are still very much concerned in the interim.Motherboard makers, on the other hand, commented that although the RD580 can be partnered with ATI's own SB450... The console enthusiast website GAF has posted some very interesting images of Nintendo's upcoming Revolution gaming console. Supposedly taken from a recruiting kit which was scheduled to be used after the Revolution console launches, the images show the progression of the hardware from conceptual design to the final appearance. As a bonus, there are also a number of images showing various aspects of game development in their early stages. I must say whatever designers Nintendo has now - from GB Micro, to the 20th Anniversary ads, to DS Lite and Revolution - they're certainly good. Managing to mix Apple style cool, with retro cool at the same... Read more...
Sorry for the long time between updating folks, but the news feed has been a bit slow this weekend. Fortunately we have enough for a post this afternoon, so get some coffee and get ready to read... 8COM BH220 Bluetooth Phone Headset Review @ Mikhailtech "Measuring 120mm x 30mm x 20mm and weighing in at only 14 grams, the BH220 is smaller and lighter than most car door remotes. After wearing it for a while you forget it's even there. There are three buttons on the front, the biggest one being the function key, with a pair of volume keys below. Each button has several functions. You'll notice a clear casing between the lower buttons; this is where two LEDs (red and blue) reside. The tiny hole... Read more...
