AMD is looking to take the enthusiast gaming PC market by storm with its upcoming Ryzen Threadripper family, and Dell is apparently more than happy to embrace the new many-core processors. Today at E3, Dell announced the new Alienware Area-51 Threadripper Edition, which as its name implies, is backed by AMD’s top-of-the line consumer CPUs. The Area-51 Threadripper Edition of course features an AMD X399 chipset-based motherboard and is available with either 12- or 16-core Ryzen Threadripper processors, delivering a total of 24 or 32 threads respectively. In addition, Dell says that both processors will be unlocked and overclocked from the factory across all cores and threads. Cooling for... Read more...
Some things just never seem to get old. You know, things like watching the New England Patriots win the Super Bowl or cracking open a beer from a boat while fishing. It is a long list, and if we turn our attention to PC gaming, you can add killing Nazis to it. In case you need a fix in that department, Bethesda promises plenty of action in Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, the first trailer of which was revealed at E3. Bethesda teased a sequel to 2014's Wolfenstein: The New Order at last year's E3, but waited until now to make a formal reveal. This latest entry in the series follows The New Order along with its 2015 prequel Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. Like those two previous games, The New Colossus... Read more...
Project Scorpio has been on the minds of console gamers for the past few months, and Microsoft today officially unveiled its latest gaming console. The console is simply called the Xbox One X, which isn’t exactly as cool as Project Scorpio, but we'll let that slide given what Microsoft has in store graphically for gamers. The console also doesn’t stray too far from the Xbox One S in design, and could easily be mistaken for its lesser sibling. While it doesn’t break new ground aesthetically, it’s actually smaller than the Xbox One S despite being billed as “the most powerful console ever made”. Microsoft confirmed the specs for the Xbox One X, which it provided earlier this year: Eight custom... Read more...
If you are a fan of the Star Wars universe, then Electronic Arts has an upcoming game that is sure to get your motor running. Star Wars Battlefront II was announced earlier this year, but it’s the newest multiplayer gameplay trailer that has fans salivating in anticipation of the game's fall release. As we’ve previously reported, the game covers a four-decade span of time that touches on major sequences in the Star Wars movie universe starting with The Phantom Menace and ending with The Force Awakens. This is a big expansion from the Star Wars Battlefront, which focuses primarily on the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV through VI). Over the course of two minutes, the new multiplayer... Microsoft’s badass Project Scorpio is still 24 hours away from its official public unveil, but the fallout from the new console is already being felt. The Redmond, Washington-based software and hardware giant announced today via Twitter that it is cutting prices on existing Xbox One S bundles by $50 effective tomorrow. That means that the cheapest bundle, the $249 Xbox One S Minecraft Bundle, should fall to a more palatable $199. Likewise, the Xbox One S Battlefield 1 Bundle will see its price reduced from $299 to $249, while the Xbox One S Gears of War 4 Limited Edition Bundle will be priced at $349 (compared to the current $399). It is unknown if this will be a permanent price drop, but knowing... Read more...
