Canon announced two new SX-series PowerShot digital cameras that feature impressive zoom capabilities. The new PowerShot SX500 IS offers a 30x optical zoom while the PowerShot SX160 IS offers a 16x optical zoom. Both of these super-zoom cameras feature Canon's latest AF technology to make auto focusing even faster than with previous SX-series cameras. The PowerShot SX500 IS has a 24mm wide angle lens along with a 16 megapixel sensor and DIGIC 4 image processor. You'll find a 3-inch LCD on the back of this camera. Nikon introduced new additions to its Nikon 1 and Coolpix lines. The new Nikon 1 J2 builds upon the previous-generation Nikon 1 J1 camera. The J2 model features a new Creative Mode, metallic body, a higher resolution screen, and 1080p HD video capture capabilities. The Nikon 1 J2 features a 3-inch LCD with 921,000 dots. The new Creative Mode gives users full manual exposure controls. The camera is available in White, Black, Silver, Pink, deep Red and Orange. Samsung is now shipping its NX1000 compact system camera. The NX1000 is the most budget-friendly model in Samsung's family of NX SMART cameras which feature built-in Wi-Fi. The camera comes in black, white, and pink and has a price of $699.99. In addition to built-in Wi-Fi for easy picture sharing, the NX1000 features an all-purpose 20-50mm lens, a 20.3-megapixel CMOS sensor, external flash, 3-inch LCD, and 1080p HD video capture capabilities. Samsung is launching the new EX2F digital camera. This camera is the latest addition to Samsung's Wi-Fi enabled Smart Camera family. The EX2F features a f/1.4 lens and sharing features via Wi-Fi connectivity. The camera also features full manual controls and can record in 1080p full HD video with stereo sound. You can capture both still images and video at the same time using the Dual Capture feature. There's been some criticism over a letter Nikon started sending out recently to independent repair shops in the U.S. in which the camera maker announced that "it will no longer maker repair parts available for purchase by repair facilities that have not been authorized by Nikon Inc. to perform camera repairs," a policy that goes into effect around the middle of July. Sony added the DSC-TX55 Cyber-shot digital camera to its lineup. This camera is capable of capturing 12 megapixel-level still photos and Full HD video at the same time thanks to its 'Dual Rec' mode. The camera also captures 3D photos with a single lens, taking two images consecutively. According to Sony, the DSC-TX55's 'By Pixel Super Resolution' technology increases the camera's zoom range to a virtual 10x. The TX55 features a 16.2 megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and measures only 12.2mm thick (excluding the lens cover), making it smaller in thickness than a AA-size battery. According to Sony, the new NEX-C3 is the world’s smallest, lightest interchangeable lens camera with an APS-C sized sensor. This camera comes in a range of colors and offers DSLR-like quality in a compact model. The camera weighs approximately 8 ounces and features a 16.2 megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor. Sony introduced the new α35 (SLT-A35) interchangeable lens camera. This camera builds on Sony's α33 and α55 models and features Sony’s Translucent Mirror Technology. The α35 also features Tele-zoom High Speed Shooting, a feature that magnifies a central portion of the image area while shooting at up to 7 fps. This 16.2 megapixel camera uses the Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor and a BIONZ processor.
