In preparation for the upcoming release of the Intel Centrino 2 mobile platform, Super Talent has just announced a DDR3-1333 capable SO-DIMM.  The part number for the product is W1333SA1GS.  It has a 1GB capacity, support for frequencies up to 1333MHz (PC3-12800), and it has a CAS latency of 9.  A photo of the new SO-DIMM and the full press release are avaialble below. In advance of CeBit, Kingston has created a video which shows soon to be released Kingston Technology DDR3 memory modules overclocked to an impressive 2.133GHz.  The memory, which is yet to be officially announced, will be in the HyperX DDR3 family and it will be rated for operation at PC3-16000 speeds. A few months ago, we rounded up some of the fastest DDR3 memory kits that were available and came away impressed by how well frequencies and performance had scaled in the short time since DDR3 had been introduced on the desktop.  Since that article was published, however, not much has changed on the DDR3 front in terms of overall performance.  1800MHz kits are still the cream of the crop and the latency of the top kits hasn’t dropped below CAS 7.  The landscape has changed a bit though, thanks to ever dropping prices, maturity, and some newly introduced features. We're in the early stages of a major transition in the PC arena, much like in 2004 when Intel launched their first core logic chipset with support for DDR2 memory.  This time around, however, Intel is pushing DDR3 memory with their current crop of desktop chipsets. When DDR2 memory first hit the scene, we recommended users to tread lightly as the technology needed some time to mature.  Back then DDR2 had much higher latency than standard DDR memory and it couldn't scale to high enough clock speeds to negate its latency disadvantages.  And in many situations DDR2 memory actually performed below the bar set by standard DDR, not to mention it was much more expensive.  In time though, DDR2...
