Android TV is coming, and as we mentioned earlier, one of the killer features of the product will be the ability to play Android games on a nice, big TV. It appears that Android TV will ship on certain devices, but apparently there will also be a standalone Android TV box, and there’s a controller that will ship with said box. Google I/O attendee Artem Russakovskii posted an image on Google+ that shows the alleged controller with the alleged Android TV box. Google had a whopper of an I/O conference last week, and if there was one prevailing theme from the whole event, it is this: Android has evolved. Already a mature mobile OS that is one of the two dominant operating systems in a huge and still-growing mobile market, Android is officially not just for phones and tablets. Google TV was a swing and a miss in terms of Google’s play for living room dominance, and thus it was good news when word leaked that the company was both rebranding its TV platform to “Android TV” and ostensibly making it better with a different foundational version of Android. Now, The Verge reports that it has acquired exclusive documents that show the new and improved Android TV. So what exactly is new and improved about it?
