NVIDIA SLI & ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe Performance Showcase

Far Cry v1.3 Testing

As a reminder, NVIDIA employs Split Frame Rendering techniques for Far Cry SLI load balancing.  Let's see what that does for performance next.

Benchmarks & Comparisons With Far Cry - SFR SLI

Far Cry
If you've been on top of the gaming scene, you probably know that Far Cry is one of the most visually impressive games to be released on the PC to date.  Although Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 have both arrived, Far Cry still looks great in comparison, especially with the new v1.3 patch installed.  Far Cry came along and gave us a taste of what was to come in next-generation 3D gaming on the PC.  We benchmarked the graphics cards in this showcase with a custom-recorded demo run taken in the "Catacombs" area checkpoint at various resolutions without AA or Aniso Filtering enabled and then with 4X AA enabled along with 8X anisotropic filtering.

For single-slot graphics performance, there is an obvious advantage for ATi Radeon X800 series cards in Far Cry still today.  However, at high res and with AA and AF pixel processing invoked, our SLI GeForce 6800GT and Ultra scores steal the show.  Versus the Radeon X850, dual 6800 Ultras put up a 32% lead and when compared to a single 6800 Ultra card, there's a massive 66% performance edge in our AA and AF enabled test runs.  NVIDIA's home turf is our next playing field, with Doom 3 benchmarking.
