Steam Unwraps Fantastic Winter Game Sale With Deep Discounts And Awards

"Anything you can do I can do better. I can do anything better than you!” You hear that console lovers? The PC Master Race sees your Xbox Store discounts and laughs out of pity. That’s because the wildly popular online game service Steam has discounts of its own to appease gamers that know that a mouse and keyboard is the only way to hastily vanquish opponents in battle.

Valve just launched its annual Steam Winter Sale and there are plenty of deals to be found for PC gaming enthusiasts. So, if you have a gamer on your shopping list, and your incessant procrastination means that a gift can’t be shipped in time for Christmas, maybe now is the chance to give the gift of a digital game.

There are dozens of games on sale, but we’ll just list a few here to get you started:

  • Tom Clancy’s The Division - 50% off ($24.99)
  • Just Cause 3 - 75% off ($14.99)
  • Insurgency - 80% off ($1.99)
  • Assetto Corso – 40% off ($17.99)
  • Doom (2016) - 67% off ($19.79)

As in past Steam sales, there are also discounts on Steam hardware, including the Steam Link which can be had for a bargain basement $20 (60 percent off the regular $49.99 price tag). If you’d like to add a controller to the mix, the bundle will cost you just $49.48. Unfortunately, if you were hoping to score a discount on the HTC Vive, which retails for $799, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

The Steam Winter Sales last until January 2nd at 1 PM EST.

In addition to the ongoing game sale, Valve has also kicked off its first annual Steam Awards. Nominees were selected during Steam’s fall sale, with gamers being allowed to choose a winner from some pretty hilarious categories. For example, today you can vote on “Villain Most In Need Of A Hug”. Tomorrow’s vote is for “I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award”, while you’ll be voting for “Best Use Of A Farm Animal” on December 29th.

What are you waiting for, head on over to the Steam store right now!
