Star Wars Battlefront Beta Will Be Open To All Platforms, All Gamers, Likely Soon
The incredibly hyped Star Wars Battlefront is set to release on November 17 in North America, which by all accounts isn't far off at all. So it's with much anticipation that fans of the series - those who've been praying for this game to become a reality since the release of Battlefront II in 2005 - are awaiting news of a beta. Well, that wait is now over.
Well... kind of. There's still a bit of information missing. Namely, the fact that EA can't give us an exact launch date for the beta. But, there is something to look forward to: when it does land, it's going to be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC (via Origin). Better still, it's going to include both single and multi-player content, so you'll be able to co-op with friends online, or on the same screen.
On the multi-player side of things, you'll be able to take part in a battle on Hoth called "Walker Assault" and check out the new game mode "Drop Zone." That will be similar to king-of-the-hill modes where players will have to find and secure drop pods that fall from the sky.
The single-player component doesn't sound quite as exciting, although it could be if you're a bit fan of survival modes. Here, you'll be stranded on Tatooine, trying your best to stay alive for as long as possible.
If this all sounds great, here's something else to be happy about: this beta is going to be open to everyone, so there's no need to feel pressured to preorder for the sake of getting into it - a rather surprising move by EA, it must be said.
