I'll readily admit it, I'm a sucker for transparent hardware. There is just something delightfully geeky about glimpsing the internal bits when the status quo is to hide them behind an opaque chassis. So, I'm all about Sony's upcoming Prism Collection, especially as it pertains to the colorful DualSense controllers that are coming in Flare Orange, Emerald Green, and Graphite Gray.

It's not just controllers, though. Sony also plans to offer matching PlayStation 5 console covers with a transparent top section. However, if you own a PlayStation 5 Pro, none of these covers will work with your console. Bummer.

"The new collection was inspired by our design teams’ interest to bring a transparent appearance to PS5, and give players a closer look into the design and craftsmanship behind our DualSense controllers and PlayStation 5 consoles. From bold Flare Orange to elegant Emerald Green and stylish Graphite Gray, each color is finished with a premium glossy sheen for a sleek and elevated design," Sony explains.

Unfortunately, none of these slick makeovers are available just yet. Sony says preorders for the Prism Collection DualSense controllers ($84.99) and PS5 covers ($74.99) will begin on November 10, 2026, followed by retail availability on February 4, 2027. So not in time for Grand Theft Auto VI.

That's quite a wait if you're itching to spruce up your gaming setup. Fortunately, Sony has several other snazzy DualSense designs available to order or preorder right now, including some limited-edition models that look fantastic. Here are some options:

The last two are way overpriced, as tends to happen with limited edition models. If you're willing to go the pre-owned route, you can find the limited edition The Last Of Us controller for $99.99 at GameStop and the limited edition Ghost of Yotei controller for the same price at the same place.
