Sony's E3 Showcase To Focus On Death Standing And Three Other Titles, Not Hardware

There have been rumors flying around that Sony might launch the PlayStation 5 in late 2018. If you were hoping that these rumors might add up to an unveil at E3 2018 next month, that seems less likely now. An official statement from Sony talking about what the E3 show will cover has been published and the focus will be on four games rather than hardware.

Sony will have its E3 conference a month from now on June 11 at 6:00pm PST. If you aren’t going to be at the show, Sony has said it will broadcast the show live on the PlayStation website, Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook. Sony will be focusing on four anticipated game titles including Death Stranding from Kojima Productions, Ghost of Tsushima from Sucker Punch, Marvel’s Spider-Man from Insomniac Games, and The Last of Us Part II from Naughty Dog.

Sony will talk about more games from third-party publishers and indie devs as well. It's nice to see Sony offering up a bit of detail about what it will talk about at the show, which is certainly a break from tradition. Normally what will be covered is held close to the vest.

As some reports point out, when Sony does give up details on shows and press conferences it is normally being honest with us. So this isn't expected to be subterfuge to hide the unveiling of the PS5.
