OnePlus 6T Debuts With 6.4-inch Display, In-Screen Fingerprint Reader And T-Mobile Carrier Support For $549

After plenty of leaks, the OnePlus 6T has officially been revealed for all to see. There aren't too many surprises given what we already know about the device, but it's a beastly smartphone with value pricing, as is usually the case with OnePlus releases.

Like most other Android flagships that have been released this year, the OnePlus 6T makes use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor that can be paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The talk of the town, however, will be the large 6.41-inch OLED display that the OnePlus 6T is rocking (up from 6.28 inches on the OnePlus 6). It still has a FHD+ resolution, but thankfully, the display notch has been reduced to a minuscule "teardrop" cutout. The notch houses a 16MP selfie camera and an ambient light sensor.

The display also serves as a home for an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is increasingly becoming popular with flagship Android smartphones. If fingerprint unlocking is too "old school" for you, you can also use OnePlus' Face Unlock feature.

Out back you'll find two cameras: a 16MP primary sensor (Sony IMX 519, f/1.7) and a secondary 20MP sensor (Sony IMX 376K, f/1.7). The lenses are shackled with both OIS and EIS, and are capable of recording 4K video at 60 fps. Super Slow-Motion video is also supported at resolutions of up to 1080p at 240 fps.

You'll be happy to know that there is now a larger 3,700 mAh battery fueling this beast, which should provide for some extra-long runtimes. However, OnePlus has seen fit to drop the 3.5mm headphone jack (as we previously reported). On the plus side, OnePlus includes a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter in the box. In addition, it will sell its USB-C Bullets earbuds for a reasonable $19.95 (a set is not included in the box, at least not for U.S. customers).

We should note that this is the first time that OnePlus is partnering with a U.S. wireless carrier for a smartphone launch, and it has selected third-place carrier T-Mobile. T-Mobile informed us that it will be offering the flagship smartphone for half off when you trade in an eligible device and purchase using the Equipment Installment Plan. The OnePlus 6T is also compatible with Verizon's wireless network, which is a first for a OnePlus device.

For those that choose to go the unlocked route, the OnePlus 6T with 6GB of RAM and 128GB costs just $579, while 8GB of RAM and 256GB costs just $629. In an age where the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 starts at $999 for 128GB and the iPhone XS Max costs $1,249 with 256GB of storage (both phones have 6+ inch displays), the OnePlus 6T is an absolute bargain (and a breath of fresh air).

The OnePlus 6T goes on sale November 1st direct from OnePlus, while T-Mobile sales kick off on November 5th.
