The release of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot is right around the corner: the game launches for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 platforms on October 25th (Friday). In preparation for this big day, NVIDIA is rolling out its latest GeForce Game Ready driver (440.97 WHQL).

These new Game Ready drivers are specifically optimized for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which includes native support for real-time ray tracing found on NVIDIA's Turing-based GeForce RTX and GeForce GTX graphics cards (although you're definitely get much improved performance with these effects on the former cards). Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will in particular make use of ray traced shadow effects to enhance gameplay in both single-player campaign and 2v2 Gunfight multiplayer modes.

Activision's system requirements for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are listed below:

More specifically, NVIDIA adds that it recommends an Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD Ryzen R5 1600X along with a GeForce RTX for ray tracing support (1080p @ 60fps). For those that want to go for the ultimate in image quality with all ray tracing and detail effects cranked up at 4K/60fps, NVIDIA recommends an Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X with a GeForce RTX 2080 Super.

And we'd be remiss if we didn't mention that NVIDIA is currently running a promotion where if you purchase a GeForce RTX card or a new system with a GeForce RTX card installed (desktop or laptop), you'll get a free copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

In addition to being optimized for Activision's latest shooter, the latest GeForce Game Ready drivers also include full support for The Outer Worlds along with Day-1 optimizations.

You can download the GeForce Game Ready 440.97 WHQL drivers right here directly from NVIDIA, or you can choose to do so from within the GeForce Experience software.
