Netflix Streaming Comes To Sony BRAVIA HDTVs

If you're in the market for an HDTV, and you can't survive without your Netflix account, we've got some great news to share. Netflix, Demand Media and ON Networks have teamed up to provide instant streaming content to Internet-connected BRAVIA HDTVs and older BRAVIA HDTVs that are compatible with the company's Internet Video platform.

Starting this Fall, Netflix members will be able to instantly watch more than 12,000 movies and TV episodes on Sony BRAVIA Internet Video-capable HDTVs and on previous BRAVIA models compatible with Sony's BRAVIA Internet Video Link module. We're told that movies and TV programs can be viewed through a queue-based user interface, and members can add shows to their wish list on the Netflix website.

Strangely, Netflix and Sony didn't bother to add Netflix streaming to Sony's PlayStation 3, a perplexing decision for sure. The two have already shown their ability to interact together, so we know it's possible. Granted, there are some hacks and workarounds to stream Netflix on the PS3, but official support is always welcome. C'mon guys, make it happen--we can't take the tease!
