Microsoft's Windows 7 Shipping On October 22nd
Ever since Windows 7 Beta arrived on the scene, we've been putting it to the test in every way we could ever imagine. By and large, it has shown to be a leaner, more streamlined operating system compared to Vista, and hopes couldn't possibly be higher. Many have complained that Vista was never the successor to Windows XP that the general public wanted, and Microsoft has quite a lot riding on the next version. Windows 7 Release Candidate I just went public a few weeks back, and now Microsoft has confirmed that the final shipping product will be available on October 22nd.
Bill Veghte, senior vice president for Microsoft's Windows business, stated that the company "felt confident that it would deliver Windows 7 to its partners on October 22." We had earlier heard a "fall" time frame, but this is the first mention of a specific date. The shipment will be just a bit late for the back-to-school rush, but it will be on shelves with plenty of time to spare for the holiday season.
Not sure if you've noticed, but October is coming up soon. Just a few months remain before a new OS option will be made available to you -- so, are you planning to upgrade from WinXP / Vista? Linux? OS X?
