A Microsoft investigation of the Xbox has turned out to be favorable to existing owners of the system, and to those who wish to grab one in the future. In light of the results of the inquiry, which revealed a number of factors that contribute to the infamous overheating problems of the Xbox, Microsoft today announced that it will extend the Xbox’s warranty to three years for particular hardware failures. Also, Microsoft has made improvements to the console and will compensate customers who have already paid for hardware repairs (the dreaded three-flashing-lights problem).
As a result of the frustrating problems that some customers have faced, Robbie Bach, president of the Entertainment & Devices Division, issued an apology today: "The majority of Xbox 360 owners are having a great experience with their console and have from day one, but this problem has caused frustration for some of our customers and for that, we sincerely apologize."
